"It's a game that has nearly everything but not vehicles, it's interesting how the developers still keep to the Quake-like style while they could make the absolute best game there is by abandoning that theme."
Hmm, maybe there are different opinions on what is "the best game". Why not make your own best game?
"Well, I hope that maybe some day, cube 2 (or 3) will have vehicles."
Sure...

Naturally you're right, opinions are different when it comes to what people like but I'm just talking about adding a feature that only the ones interested will use.
I'm sure there are people who play Cube 2 who never use the map editor, or people like me who never really play the game but only use the map editor.
Anyway, that's not my point. What I wanted to know was if it is possible at all to create a mod with vehicles and more realistic gameplay.
Also, thank you for responding to my post.

Everything is possible :)
It would require a lot of (C++) coding though, and you would have to run your own masterserver (if you want multiplayer) etc. etc.

Off course, I understand. Since I'm not much of a coder, that part will have to wait but it's nice to know that it can be done.
Thanks :)

Hey people. I'm new to cube 2, and I'm really into coop edit. I was editing a map, and some people made spheres in the sky. How exactly do you do that?

This is the hard way, you can do spheres simplier, uglier... Ask someone in a coop edit how to do a 4x4 sphere ;)

I am trying to use the blend brushes within the editor and it doesn\'t seem to be working.
Is there any kind of procedure to use them?

try to manipulate some particles so they look like rain.
You'll probabaly need these command in edit mode:
- "newent particles"
- "entset particles"
good luck...

#4405: /replace and /replacesel |

How do I make these commands work?
As I know, I should change texture on some area and then type one of these commands so it will replace texture over all the faces which has previously used texture. But as a result I always get:
>can only replace after a texture edit
Am I doing it wrong?

Just tried it, and it works fine.
Select something, press F2, pick a texture, /replace. Done.
Note that undoing a /replace or /replacesel doesn't really work. It seems to only undo the texture change around the same area as the source change.

What SheeEttin says is correct.
The problem you are having is probably because you have allfaces selected. Zero on your keyboard I believe.

You can put vehicles in as player models and monsters, as long as you get the animations configured and skun properly for teams. We have had tanks, vans, APC's, mechs and gumby running around as both player models and NPC.
The major issues comes down to the fact the engine doesn't support different player classes, and when people say 'the engine doesn't support vehicles' this is really what they mean. I think this is the major shortcoming of the cube2 engine. Player classes would not only make vehicle games possible, but would help in the development of very popular TF type games.
We have been facing this problem with the MekArcade project, for the demo in the new year we are probably going to fake it, but after that we will need a proper solution.
One other issue is scale. If you scale your vehicle up it doesn't fit on maps easily and the targetting is screwy. If you make them player size then your giant battle machine looks like a toy. Vehicles need maps and textures in scale for them.
A few behavoirs need to be changed, tanks generally don't jump for example. Again, this is the sort of problem that a player class would solve.
If people want some vehicle models we can post them.
