second that. Except I actually like C++. 99% of C++ programmers do not understand the full generality of the language, and stick to arbitrary limitations that have no relation to the language at all.
C++ compilers don't know what a header file is, they only deal with (expanded) .cpp files.
But hey, don't think for yourself, jump of the cliff that the most other programmers are jumping off, that'll be right.
For reference on how C++ can be used:

Wow, thanks for that article. I've done some Java coding and liked it (most of what I do is in C or Java) but always kind of assumed that C++ is C with classes and new/delete (basically for classes only but also nifty for pointers) bolted on. Now I'm going to have to do a lot more playing around with C++.

The HOM effects as described in post #5773 could be solved by upgrading the NVIDIA driver. I do not know which exact version fixed it, since I do not run Sauerbraten that often. It is all fine now with nvidia-1.0.9629(32bit/Linux).

#7012: The Master Server is giving out too many IP addresses |

Hi, the master seerver is giving out about 150 IP's at the moment. I'm only able to see about four working servers as a result - probably due to some sort of filtering by my isp.
I realy enjoy this game! A big thankyou to all the people responsible for makeing it so great!

Hiya. I've looked around but haven't found any threads that give me a solution (at least one that I understand!). I used to play Suaer online quite often and it was fine. I stopped playing for a while due to real life stuff. Now when I try to play online line all I get is a huge list of servers 'Waiting for Response' and a few say 'Unkown Host'. Can anybody help me get back in the game? Thanks in advance, P :)

#7014: Compiling CVS under ubuntu |
by Dogmeat

Can anyone help with this problem I'm having when trying to compile Sauerbraten under ubuntu 6.06:
I have the required libs installed, but there appears to be a problem with libSDL_image and libpng, make basically chucks out a bunch of errors along the lines of:
/usr/lib/libSDL_image.so: undefined reference to `png_get_IHDR@PNG12_0'
/usr/lib/libSDL_image.so: undefined reference to `png_destroy_read_struct@PNG12_0'
/usr/lib/libSDL_image.so: undefined reference to `png_create_read_struct@PNG12_0'
I've tried reinstalling libPng and libSDL_image with no result. Is this due to incompatible versions of the libraries? Any ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks!

Yeah, I'm having a similar problem. As a temproary work around you can replace your (very long) servers.cfg file with this list that Drakas made for me:
addserver 83.219.8.173
addserver 210.9.231.83
addserver 206.246.124.124
addserver 193.238.109.4
addserver 62.149.14.48
addserver 81.169.138.14
addserver 203.217.67.52
addserver 69.204.116.144
addserver 137.99.176.180
addserver 193.24.244.72
addserver 88.198.9.140
addserver 85.176.206.56
addserver 194.88.2.86
addserver 213.251.132.43
addserver 85.93.22.133
addserver 85.25.52.187
addserver 80.190.66.128

If you have adequate replacement files for everything needed you could replace the model if you like ...
see /packages/models/monster/ogro in your installation.

Have you tried (from the menu) Multiplayer > Update serverlist from masterserver?
Latest version installed?

Already have the *-dev libs installed.
I'm not quite that dumb. Quite.
Any other bright ideas?
P.s. ever thought of using a forum design that isn't a complete pain in the ass to use?

Rather inflammatory remarks don't you think? You came here for help, MeatROme, an experienced member of these forums offered you help. If you're not quite that dumb, then go figure it out by yourself.
This forum is not an ass to use at all, its actually quite a leet forum. Better than.. well.. all of the other forum solutions I've seen. Just because it doesn't have emoticons and 1000x1000 pixel avatars does not make it "an ass to use".

Not inflammatory at all, merely criticism.
The main annoyance is having to get a cookie to be able to use my user name, which involves having to send an email to myself. What's wrong with a standard login system? It's annoying if you have to use multiple computers, or if you clear your cookies.
All I meant by my remarks is that I'm able to follow through a readme and have done so. If you wish to take it as inflammatory then that's up to you.
So, anyone else have any ideas?

Thanks Fluffy. Tried that but it didn't seem to make any difference. I didn't update or anything in-game but it seems to automatically throw in loads of servers anyway...
@ San Holo: I do have the latest release (the water edition?) and I have tried updating from the master server as well as Fluffy's list but nothing doing :(
It's really frustrating. The biggest draw to Suaer for me is it's simplicity but now it seems the Gods are taking the mickey!
