Sauerbraten copyrights

What can I do, and what am I not allowed to do with Sauerbraten - if I do anything with it... such as creating my own game out of it?

If you want to be discrete, please e-mail me.

great, there goes another one. MMORPG, no programmers, no content, but a fancy website. Sounds familiar.

Maybe I should create a standard "cease and decist" email template: "Hi. I see you are creating a MMORPG based on my game. You haven't read the documentation at all, have you? ..."

People have awful habits in not contacting the creator about modding anything. Even though they mention your name (at the very bottom of the page) they want to take credit. Idiots... >.>

That would be like sending a cease and desist to someone trying to build a death ray on the moon. :)

It is addon, just so sad that its ANOTHER attempt at a MMORPG. Simply using the search function on the forums and he would see HOW many people have come up with an idea like his before.

Hmmm, I am getting a little bit confused. As I wrote earlier, I have started writing a multiplayer RPG based on the sauerbraten engine. The current version must be installed over a fresh install of the occlusion edition. It will not overwrite a single file of it, but yet has it's own gameplay etc. The game currently has one map, which uses textures/models from the original sauerbraten installation. (This is more for demonstration purposes, anyway. I am not a mapper nor modeller etc. I am more interested in creating the MRPG engine.)

From reading the license, I still understand, that this is completely okay. Am I wrong?

(I can also contribute music to sauerbraten, if there is interest, to give something back.)

No, this is not a problem, its just that about 3,000 people have already tried what you're suggesting - and failed. So we're just a little skeptical that it will work out. But you're free to try if you like.

thojoh370, you've got your work cut out for you now. So far.. you have started work on a MMORPG without a programmer, as you state on the site and you are now also working on another stand-alone Sauerbraten mod..

I can't see how you are possibly going to manage two mods at once ;)

by Stern on 06/09/2006 01:39

Haha hacker... Seems suspiciously like you gave up and put that on as a frontend to your site so that people would stop bugging you about not being able to do it (which you probably can't). How would you get the hacker's email address? Why would he hack your site? How would he be able to hack a site run by Google? This seems fishy to me... Why make so many boxes saying "We got hacked!" when you could just recreate the website?
