Here you can talk about whatever you want, wheter or not it has anything to do with cube. Politics, your ex-girlfriend, your new computer, the latest game, whatever.

Really? I found them horribly frustrating. Conker was funny, but incredibly tedious compared to Nintendo's adventure games. I couldn't stand Goldeneye and Perfect Dark - I found them to be a weak perversion of the FPS genre... I could never understand their popularity - it was like playing Doom with your head wrapped in cotton and wearing 50 pound gauntlets over your hands. The worst, by far, was Diddy Kong Racing. The gameplay was incredibly frustrating, and the end boss was outright unbeatable.

Rare's games have always been insanely, pointlessly hard, and very unforgiving when you fail. Plus, they always push the hardware as far as it will go, and then just far enough more to make it crack a little.

i dunno about all that, did you play starfox 64 or Banjo Kazooie? Neither of those games were terribly hard (or if they were, I've totally forgotten it) and didn't cause undue loading times etc like say... Bungie. I'm beginning to genuinely despise that company.

FPS with a gamepad is always ridicoulous...

Laptop touchpads are worse. :)

You know this new SLI thingy (2 graphics cards on one motherboard). I saw a review of it, and basically you only see a performance benifit if you have a liquid cooled $1500 processor, even with 2 of the budget cards.

...By the way don't ever become a computer techie that removes viruses for a wage. :)

Check this out:

But don't go if you don't want to. There's nothing about Cube there.

Anyone here played Ultima Online? I've been playing for a while and found some of the features quite unique and attractive (not that I've played many games). It's not impressive visually or otherwise and seems like there are too many ways to die, and too much goods go to player killers.. but offers a lot of freedom. And it has this.. genuine RPG feeling (don't know how else to call it:)

#221: charity bands

by CC_Machine2 on 05/21/2005 23:07

hey all, has anyone here got these new 'charity bands'? they've become popular in my school, and also i've noticed that lots of ppl are wearing / selling fakes. In fact, they sell them for 2-3x more than the originals (originals £1 to £1.50, fakes ive seen them sold as £3 or more)

Yeah, they are popular at the school my daughters attend. Both of my girls have some of these bands - anti bullying ones, anti racism ones etc.
Fake ones are certainly available. I suppose the thing to look out for is that the money goes to whatever charity or organisation they are supporting.
I am a bit old for bands myself! I did used to have some cool studded leather wristbands when I was a teenager and in my 20's though!

if you want to check a band is real, here are my tips:

Look for 'MADE IN CHINA' on the back, or nike tick on anti-racism bands

They should be made of silicone, not rubber, one property of silicone is that it doesnt stretch much (only 1-2cm i think)

Compare them to a band you know is real

Also if the colours have run, then its fake

#224: Mac questions

by makkE on 05/26/2005 19:23

Hi there, I got some probs.
My boss got some mac laptop.
Wants to install a printer.
The printer wants him to download Quicktime 5 or higher before installing (don´t ask me why.)

Now the problem, he says the laptop runs mac os 9.1

Now I only find some quicktime for osx 10.something.

Question: will it work on os 9.1 ?

If not where could i find some older version of quicktime, that´ll work on macos 9.1 ?

We been testing.

The server was weak, I was master, so I kicked someone off.. didn´t know he´s banned for 4 hours now :(
Maxclients didn´t seem to work. Can´t find it in the docs either.. is it not yet in sauerbraten?

If you read this bmwboy, I am really sorry, didn´t have in mind you´d be banned from that server for 4 hrs..

Also, it would be cool if you were able as master to pass it to someone else.
If you play with ppl you know, you´d probably like to pass it to someone you trust rather than to some random newbie.

When I was master, all names on my scoreboard were green is this intentional? Other players only saw me in green.

Gameplay: Turned out to be all fun. Health Bosst seemed to be fun too.

Allright..
I guess I need a new gfx card.
I read some reviews and saw the 6800GT, said to be a good card for mid-budged.
My budged would be around 150-200 €..
I need something capable of the modern stuff, and probably lasting a while.

What would you recomment?
Agp, btw.

AGP instantly limits your selection.. but the best card I think you should get is the BFG 7800GS AGP card.. high performance, only $450 here in australia, so probably ~just~ outside of your budget, but this card is on par with the 7800GT and 7800GTX, and the fastest card available for AGP.

if that is outside your budget, then the ONLY 6800 you should consider is the great 6800GS. its performance is higher than a 6600GT and 6800, but slower than the 6800GT and 6800 Ultra. but its price is awesome :P only $335 here, so well inside your budget ;)

haha lol we replied at the same time..

no the 6800GT is much more poorly priced, the AGP version is the same price as a 7800GS.
