Who do you think will be our next president, and who are you voting for?

I'd hate myself for this but considering the alternative I'd vote for Bush - if I was American.

@jcdpc: no, it's not arrogant, it only reflects the thoughts of mr. bush (he still thinks he is the president of the world)

'will der sherrif reiten geh'n...'

heh. well, in a sense, he is the president of the world. The US does affect the world more than any other nation. (expect, perhaps, China)

I think the US is the future, if they go down we all do. The Chinese and the whole East Asian region only try to copy western civilization without contributing anything new to it and they hold too strong to tradition and beliefs at the same time (although Japan and especially South Korea are moving out of this trend).

But I'm too young to say such serious things ;)

jcdpc, you mean anime ;) *cough*

Stuff we get from the east:

Martial arts.
Good cars(and some not so good :-).
Cool cartoons.
Scary food.
Monsters (chinese dragons and stuff).

The US isn't going to "go down"...
and that could mean anything.
Economy collapse?
Whole of America just sinks into the ocean?
I'm sure the world could survive without America (if it just disapeared), we managed before.

I'm serious :) DOOM and Quake all came from the US. They're not exactly free but they're open source and when it comes down to the waterlevel, it's pretty much the same. Men of the east tend to encode their stuff, no matter what it is - from poems to programs - so no one knows how they made it.

by J-C-D-P-C on 10/27/2004 22:34

i think it may have something to do with eastern philosophy being more like "you dont have to understand" while western philosophy is very skeptical and everything most be shown through logic. Im not about to say one is right and the other is wrong, they are 2 different schools of thought. But the eastern programmer by default will make everything confusing, while westerners will try to make sense. Am i right or am i a raving lunatic?

Well people usually don't think too much, they tend to act. In the long run, maybe it has everything to do with religion, and particularly with Christianity.

There is somewhat no more west or east, economical and political weight are in USA, Europe, Asia and middle-East, and companies moving stuff between all those blocks.

With Bush you can include men, weapons and more oil in this "stuff"
