Most Wanted Feature

Hello all... this thread is for discussing features you would like to see in cube, and in particular those that you find most urgent. If lots of people have the same urgent requests, I may give it priority to be implemented.

I think we all like the simple, stupid monsters. Simple monsters make the game into a puzzle - you know exactly how each monster behaves/reacts to you. Imho, what the monsters need is more variety in function than variety in AI. Look at Serious Sam - another game with simple/stupid monsters that made tons of variety out of them. There, you've got melee monsters, high-explosive kamekaze monsters, sniper monsters, flying monsters, near-stationary chaingun-monsters, shootable-homing-missile launching monsters, etc. Individiually retarded, but they make the battle into a complex puzzle to fight through.

What about permanent blood, gore,fires and damage to the levels. Turn them into a warzone! and vehicles! give us a 3 person Warthhog clone!
Erm im getting a bit carried away here :)

Maybe this seems like a stupid question, but is there a way of turning left and right using the keyboard? I know you can strafe left or right but at the moment the only way of turning around seems to be the mouse, which isn\'t ideal.

that being said ...
it's just a lot of work and depends to no small amount on well prepared feedback reaching the developers.

A whole wiki page should be dedicated to creating maximum impact bug reports.

-multiplayer bots for Sauerbraten( for Cube there are some)-I think very important
-DMSP customisable: frag target(30 default) configurable, eventualy monster vawes configurables

-monster models to have a gun(not as important like the first 2 ideeas)
-more weapons(not biggest priority for me)

-maybe more maps.

I'd been wanting to add guns to the models (Slith has some of the nicest vweps I've ever seen) but for the life of me I can't get Sauer to compile.

This can already be done. There are ten monsters per dificulty level (default 3). You can get up to 100 if you really want...

And I want a Buggatti Veyron: Ain't happening.

The VoIP would be too much code, and it would go against sauer's stance on being dialup-friendly.

If you want a different model, replace the one in packages\models\monsters\ogro. Simple as that.

yes, VON (Voice Over Net) support over Cube and Sauer would be amazing. This brings back days of Delta Force 2 (anyone remember that game?), or the more recent Counter Strike (w0ot).

At first I liked the idea until I realised it causes as many problems as benefits. And it'd be a lot of work for some poor sap!

With it you can hear your mates talking but you also have idiots who want to abuse you. I, have learned in the long run, that it's not all it's cracked up to be and it's a resource hogger. I like the simple type chat function. I just wish there was an option to set a beep (or a sound of your choice) when a message is sent to notify you in the middle of a fragfest... :)

The point is, while it sounds like a nice little accessory to Sauerbraten, it actually affects gameplay. For FFA and insta it would be nothing, but for capture it would allow for some sort of teamwork and a gameplan to be used etc.

At the moment, I use Teamspeak with my friends when they play (which is rarely) but I think talking to people you don't know as well helps the teamwork when on a team (try Counter-Strike or Battlefield 2 as an example of teamwork via voice chat).

Failing implementing VoIP into Sauerbraten, how about an official Ventrilo or Teamspeak server for Sauerbraten players, with details on how to connect to it in the docs?

I tought about playing something that I could name "monster deathmatch" :when the player dies, then it respawn imediatly and the monsters does continues to spawn until player reach the frag-target(not only 100, but 400 or 30 minutes time-limit for example).Like botmatch in UT or Q3.

The game realy rocks(thanks Aardappel also for q1 dmsp).

I also could suggest BOTS in DM for Sauerbraten (like the bots made by Rick for Cube) and boby-gibs and blood when people dies fighting- for more spectacular battles.
