Bug Reports

by eihrul on 09/03/2008 01:41, 1175 messages, last message: 12/31/2023 08:39, 924829 views, last view: 05/04/2024 18:35

Please post your bug reports in here.

With your bug report, please submit the following information:

1) OS: Your operating system, i.e. Linux, Windows, or otherwise and what version you are using.

2) 3D card: The 3D card you are using. If you do not know, this is printed on the "Renderer:" line in the console when Sauerbraten starts up.

3) The edition of Sauerbraten you are using, i.e. Assassin edition, CVS as of a particular date, or otherwise.

4) Error information: If you are on Windows, a pop-up message showing filenames and line numbers should show up when Sauerbraten crashes; if possible, post a screenshot or a copy/paste of this. If on Linux, post a log of the startup info from the console, including relevant errors or any info you might have discovered. If on MacOS X, please post the crash log if applicable.

5) A description of the problem and how to reproduce it. Please give as much detail as possible on how someone can recreate the problem, in as certain terms as you can. If someone else can't reproduce the problem, it is unlikely he can fix it or tell you what is wrong.

From the main menu. There is an "options" button, and then at the bottom of the main options tab there is a "restore" defaults button...

#653: Unusual Water Texture Bug

by Snark on 01/11/2011 06:35

I'm running the Trooper edition in Windows XP with a Nvidia Quadro NVS 280 (with the 2.0.0 Drivers)

To reproduce the bug, open sauerbraten into fixed-function mode (the problem only seems to occur in fixed-function mode), and load - say - the map 'Neon Devastation'.
Notice the weird, opaque, luminous green water that this level has.
Now load up any other map with water.
Notice that it looks weird, opaque, and luminous green.
In fact, now ALL water, in EVERY map (including new maps) looks opaque and luminous green...

This happens with every map - the first one opened determines the look of the water for all subsequently opened maps.
The program seems unable to change its water texture from the first one used.
This is only noticeable from above (underwater everything seems normal) and with the top texture - the 'Waterfall' texture of the sides is unaffected.

There is a secondary bug - undoubtedly related to the first - where sometimes water textures which are supposed to be opaque (i.e. with 'cloudy' water) are completely transparent, though still the correct colour.

I've only noticed these problems since changing graphics cards, so I imagine that that is probably related to that.

It seems to make no difference whether the nvidia_texbug_bug workaround is on or off.

Resetting the textures makes no difference.

This is really irritating me.
If anyone can suggest a fix or work-around (including through altering source code), I would be very, very grateful.

This is a bug in the legacy nvidia drivers. I have reported the issue to them before. They refuse to fix it now (given the legacy status of the driver). The only fix is to enable shaders. or to disable some water features that cause it in fixed-function mode.

Other things to try:

1) disable water refraction AND water reflection

2) enable water refraction AND water reflection

3) enable just water refraction, but not water reflection

Enabling refraction but not reflection fixed the problem.

Thanks!

its obvious the game DOES NOT recognize the command, its not telling you the binds are empty :P

execute this command, and it should be fixed:
universaldelta = [do [delta_@(if $editing [ result edit ] [ result game ])_@modifier @arg1]]

then obviously more things are "lost" than what i expected. do as eihrul said, and see if its fixed.

you should also check your console-log and/or stdout.txt for errors like "missing ]" or similar. If it works once and fails upon restart of the engine some script may be broken and thus make everything behind it fail.
Naturally you should (re-)move your config.cfg to ensure a fresh start of the engine.
