by eihrul on 09/03/2008 01:41, 1175 messages, last message: 12/31/2023 08:39, 923668 views, last view: 04/29/2024 15:26

Please post your bug reports in here.

With your bug report, please submit the following information:

1) OS: Your operating system, i.e. Linux, Windows, or otherwise and what version you are using.

2) 3D card: The 3D card you are using. If you do not know, this is printed on the "Renderer:" line in the console when Sauerbraten starts up.

3) The edition of Sauerbraten you are using, i.e. Assassin edition, CVS as of a particular date, or otherwise.

4) Error information: If you are on Windows, a pop-up message showing filenames and line numbers should show up when Sauerbraten crashes; if possible, post a screenshot or a copy/paste of this. If on Linux, post a log of the startup info from the console, including relevant errors or any info you might have discovered. If on MacOS X, please post the crash log if applicable.

5) A description of the problem and how to reproduce it. Please give as much detail as possible on how someone can recreate the problem, in as certain terms as you can. If someone else can't reproduce the problem, it is unlikely he can fix it or tell you what is wrong.

#391: Re: Error at Game Start

Run the .bat file, not the .exe file.

by Bluhman on 10/14/2009 07:12

Hey. I get this crash whenever I try and edit for an extended period of time:

Cube 2: Sauerbraten Win32 Exception 0xc0000005 [0x8f80c]

Yeah. Running on Vista.

Ok, let's try this again:

1. Vista, SP2
2. ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series
3. Windows Trooper Ed.
4. Cube 2: Sauerbraten Win32 Exception 0xc0000005 [0x8f80c]
5. Basically, make a new map, tap 'e', and proceed to edit for a while; for me, it crashes after a period of time.

try updating/downgrading your drivers for the ATI card - they've been known to cause problems!
For your next bug-report (if my suggestion fails) please include the various driver ident-strings that the engine provides on startup - keywords "Renderer:" and "Driver:" (lines 8-10 actually)

#402: Crashes, but music can be heard.

by Redfish12X on 10/31/2009 16:51

Okay, so I have a bit of a problem. As soon as I open up Sauerbraten, for the first time, I get the console. "Yay" I'm thinking. Then the main menu pops up, but then after maybe a second of being able to move around, clicking once at best, my computer makes a "ding" noise and it crashes. I can still hear the main menu's music, but upon clicking back there, it's a black screen (and mouse). There's a "Fatal Error" screen.

Here's the printscreens that I took of this problem:

^ That is from the start menu, just so you can see there's three things there.

http://tinypic.com/r/1fa9f7/4

^ Here you can see the main menu, though I'm certain you've all seen it many times before. Loads for about a second, then a ding noise later...

http://tinypic.com/r/20hknxu/4

^ and there's the Fatal error and bottom of the console. Since it could matter, here's the top of the console:

Thank you for your cooperation.

I honestly have no idea what would cause that. Quite possibly your drivers/OS are fairly buggy.

#405: Bug report win 7 RTM 64bit.

by ps2jak2 on 11/04/2009 09:20

System specs:
Windows 7 Ultimate RTM 64bit (Current updates are installed)
Amd Phenom x2 550
Asus M4A785D-M PRO Motherboard
4GB DDR 2
Ati Radeon 4850 512MB (Could be a key factor to do with the bug)
1TB WD Black HDD.
Hey guys got an interesting bug to report here.
Upon firing up Sauerbraten Trooper Edition it works fine and will never have this error unless I go into edit mode.

While in edit mode the memory used by sauerbraten goes up until it hits about 1.8gb and when it hits there it will crash with a fatal exception error that I must ctrl alt delete out to see.

This will happen no matter what the map size is or if I am editing a default map or one that is saved.

In the process of discovering this bug I tried everything from updating graphics drivers to checking all in game settings. I have discovered Windows 7 allocates 1791Mb of shared video memory to my graphics card. Sauerbraten uses about 50-100mb by itself and so the total memory when the error occurs equals the video shared memory + the memory sauerbraten uses normally.

The crash happens when it fills up which is logical in my opinion. In the photo linked to below my page file was being used for some of the memory as I had alot open but usually its a high amount and just in the main memory filling up the 1791mb shared video memory which i shouldnt really have anyway as my video card is dedicated.

The memory used when it crashs is never enough to fill the video cards dedicated memory.

Pic here:
http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=33zchhg&s=4

The error might be a microsoft big or an ati bug though as it happens with no other software or games I have used so far on this system that is only a couple of months old.

#408: Lag in menu

by Terra_I on 11/08/2009 07:45

Windows XP
ATi HD4670
Catalyst 9.10
sauerbraten.exe rev. 1983 from svn

There's something strange with edit fields in menus. Pages without them display at 120 fps (=maxfps), resolution tab (with 1 edit field) drops to 90, keybinding menu lags at 9 fps.

#410: No icons & textures

by MuaDib on 11/08/2009 19:02

1) Linux x86: Mandriva 2010 Free
2) NVidia Quadro NVS 140M, drivers 190.42
3) Trooper Edition
4) no crash only error message "could not load texture /packages/.."
5) After upgrade from Mandriva 2009.1 to Mandriva 2010 I have problem with missing menu icons and in-game textures (only bw wireframe is displayed and message "could not load texture..." is printed). Other graphics (background image, menu labels, menu boxes, hud and weapon textures) is ok. I've checked permissions for resource images for it was the first thing that I thought could be wrong after upgrade, but everything seems to be ok.

Thanks for any help
