Bug Reports

Please post your bug reports in here.

With your bug report, please submit the following information:

1) OS: Your operating system, i.e. Linux, Windows, or otherwise and what version you are using.

2) 3D card: The 3D card you are using. If you do not know, this is printed on the "Renderer:" line in the console when Sauerbraten starts up.

3) The edition of Sauerbraten you are using, i.e. Assassin edition, CVS as of a particular date, or otherwise.

4) Error information: If you are on Windows, a pop-up message showing filenames and line numbers should show up when Sauerbraten crashes; if possible, post a screenshot or a copy/paste of this. If on Linux, post a log of the startup info from the console, including relevant errors or any info you might have discovered. If on MacOS X, please post the crash log if applicable.

5) A description of the problem and how to reproduce it. Please give as much detail as possible on how someone can recreate the problem, in as certain terms as you can. If someone else can't reproduce the problem, it is unlikely he can fix it or tell you what is wrong.

ugh! Some how could there be a broken optical line in the ocean sea bed! Anyway how do you patch somthing like that?
maybe a forum up date http://joomlapack.net/forum.htmlviewtopic.php?f=26&p=6893 but it happen again and this time no error message.

#352: Multiplayer Mode BlueScreen

I am ableto play the game offline bot matches etc.
When I double click on a server and try to join a server my pc crashes. I get the blue screen. I use to play this game online about 5 months ago but now it will not run online crashes my entire pc.

I run Windows Vista 32bit
2.4ghz dual core
Nvida 8800 GTX

Piss, me off cause I gota few pals who are playing this game and hang out in ventrilo with me but I am unable to play suarbraten right now online anyway. Somebody help

When I double click a server in the server browser to connect to one I get the blue screen of death crashes my entire pc.

Yoopers, thx for your comments.
I would be lucky to follow your wise advise to choose only such servers which are maintenanced by proven admins. Unfortunatly it is nearly unpossible to find gamers in the old sauerbraten maps/servers. Most of them updated their sauerbtraten-application and moved to the new game area with new maps. The server of pseudo-admin HANKUS is one the rare ones where some old school gamers are still active.

Updating and moving to new sauerbraten? Not again! The new design of the weapons is really disappointing. Just compare the old rockets with the new ones. While you have a really impressive fire ball trace in the old sauerbraten, the new rockets are blasting just a lame unspecific dust line. How boaring ...

If there will be one day a weapon downgrade I will move to new sauerbraten. Otherwise I have to buy finally WOW for having fun (again).

You're welcome to take the old weapons and implement them in the current version of Cube 2... (Of course, that's for personal use. You'd have to consult the license for anything more, e.g. distribution.)

When I click on \"Update server list...\", Sauerbraten gets ~6 tabs of IP adresses and marks them as \"Checking\". After a second, it lists their full statuses — but only for about 16 of them (that number may be, say, 14 or 20), others are still \"checked\". And that servers are pretty much the same each time, I guess it is because their adresses are listed first. For example, I have never seen TC-servers\' stats, but if I find one of their IP\'s in the list and click on it, game will connect smoothly. I have tried to /clearservers and /updatefrommaster from console, to wait for random amount of time between refreshing, to refresh list twice in a second, but the result is still the same.

When I run \"netstat -s -p UDP\", it shows that sauerbraten sends dozens of UDP packets at the same moment I refresh the list, so I guess it sends them to all of the servers but something limits most of them from reaching their destinations. Firewall is off, no other software running, DDOS protection on the router is off, too (and its logs doesn\'t list dropped packets). So, my ISP seems to be blocking the outgoing virus attacks in such a way that it conflicts with sauerbraten network protocol.

Is (or will be) there any option to add a little delay when scanning multiple servers? Let it be zero for all the ordinary people, but someone could use it to overcome such limitations.

AFAIR I noticed it when I installed Trooper edition on both of my computers, but I was too lazy to write a report and didn\'t play much to worry about it.

P.S. There still can be a bug somethere, I don\'t have explicit data that my ISP is really blocking suspicious network activity. :-)

Whenever I try to start the game, I get this: This application has failed to start because zlib1.dll was not found. Re-istalling the application may fix this problem.
I already re-installed it, and now I don't know what to do.

#1 - please give us more background-info - like the fact you seem to be running Windows (which one?).
#2 - are you starting the game by running the BAT?
#3 - have you tried copying the bin/zlib1.dll file to C:\Windows\System32 .. or somewhere like that?!?

go to ur 'bin' folder in sauerbraten directory, find
'DbgHelp_RemoveThisPartIfOnWin98'
and rename it to:
'DbgHelp'
now run BAT file and game should start

#368: bug with vsync and anti-aliasing

vsync is shown active in the settings menu, but its value is -1. You need to type /vsync in order to activate it.
Then, with my Ati HD 4650 anti-aliasing to 16x doesn\\\\\\\'t work: it gives the same result as it were turneed off.

the problem of vsync was resolved with a driver update. No luck with anti-aliasing instead.
