by eihrul on 09/03/2008 01:41, 1175 messages, last message: 12/31/2023 08:39, 929346 views, last view: 05/18/2024 11:02

Please post your bug reports in here.

With your bug report, please submit the following information:

1) OS: Your operating system, i.e. Linux, Windows, or otherwise and what version you are using.

2) 3D card: The 3D card you are using. If you do not know, this is printed on the "Renderer:" line in the console when Sauerbraten starts up.

3) The edition of Sauerbraten you are using, i.e. Assassin edition, CVS as of a particular date, or otherwise.

4) Error information: If you are on Windows, a pop-up message showing filenames and line numbers should show up when Sauerbraten crashes; if possible, post a screenshot or a copy/paste of this. If on Linux, post a log of the startup info from the console, including relevant errors or any info you might have discovered. If on MacOS X, please post the crash log if applicable.

5) A description of the problem and how to reproduce it. Please give as much detail as possible on how someone can recreate the problem, in as certain terms as you can. If someone else can't reproduce the problem, it is unlikely he can fix it or tell you what is wrong.

@221
known bug, has been fixed already several weeks ago

@222
they're meant to work that way, hold your progress for the duration of the level, without inbetween restarts

#224: Crashing in Mac OS X

by jfm429 on 05/24/2009 10:02

I just had an issue where Sauerbraten crashes whenever I try to go to the Multiplayer mode, a few seconds after I start the Options menu, and at other random points. Single player seems to work correctly. I am running Mac OS 10.5.7, and the only thing I changed from when it worked correctly was installing and uninstalling a Wacom tablet driver. One of the crash logs is available at http://pastebin.com/m6794056 (it's either from the Trooper Edition or from a previous edition - they both exhibited identical issues.

but the monsters that i've killed can't be visibles.
I know this is a good idea for the game but for me it must be fixed.

I'm running Mac OS 10.5.4.

I have an ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro.

I am currently running Trooper edition, but this problem has occurred on the CTF edition.

I cannot get any error information as I am forced to reboot my computer each time the bug occurs.

Occasionally when I am editing a map, Sauerbraten freezes and I cannot access other programs or menus on my computer. I do not know of what triggers this bug; it seems to occur randomly. These freezes occur most frequently when I'm editing, but they have also occurred during SP and MP.

Well, I found a solution for my problem that worked very well. Use a program like AppDelete or AppZapper and drag Sauerbraten to it. UNCHECK the Sauerbraten application file itself, and delete all the other files (preferences, application support folder, etc.). It solved my problem, and it may work for others as well. Keep in mind this is essentially a clean wipe of the Sauerbraten installation, so any customizations will probably be gone.

#228: strange geometry artifacts

by byte on 05/27/2009 12:47

Hi everyone
I was trying to create a map which has an airplane in it.
As i tried to texturize it, strange artifacts of geometry appeared.
those appear everytim e i try to texture any curve or arch like thing, sometimes even when i try to texture things that are not arched or so.

http://files.filefront.com/bugjpg/;13813026;/fileinfo.html

I remember that this bug sometimes also appeared when editing geometry without texturing, but i'm not absolutely sure about that.

I'm using windows 7 RC as an OS, but that does not seem to cause the bug.
My Hardware:
Palit GeForce 6600GT 256MB
ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe Rev.2
AMD Athlon XP 2200+ @ 2200Mhz
1GiB DDR1 RAM

I hope this bug will be fixed in a patch very soon, because without an solution, i won't be able to create maps.

g+scroll, use a gridsize greater or equal to the grid you used to create the geometry, best way to avoid the issues.

using smaller gridsizes results in subdivision, which is my guess on what causes your "artifacts"

also for future reference, please use a host like imageshack, tinypic or photobucket for pictures

Thanks for your tip for using a greater gridsize.

That could be a solution, but what if theres geometry with very small details and big geometry, that can't be textured one by one?
And in fact the engine is not supposed to have this bug, so it should be fixed.

#234: freeze on windows

by amirman on 05/27/2009 21:36

trooper edition
win xp sp3
ati radeon mobility x1400

everything works great in multiplayer, no lags or freezing or anything
but when i edit a map by myself or play a bot match it freezes about 5-10 minutes in.

i'm not sure if this is a bug but it seems weird that it works fine with high fps up to a certain point and that the freeze hits me more often when i'm not on multiplayer.

the game doesn't exactly freeze, it slows down to about 4 fps and i pretty much have to ctrl+alt+del to close the game.

#235: Dual monitor mouse error

by Fokinel on 05/27/2009 23:37

Windows XP Pro GE Force 8400 video. Dual display setup. Sauerbraten starts in the left monitor and it has been working fine for many months with the older version of Cube. I upgraded a couple of weeks back and now, during play, instead of the character turning to the right when I move the mouse to the right the mouse tracks onto the right hand display. Left works fine, so if I keep turning only left there isn't a problem, but if I turn to the right focus changes and I invariably die (I die a lot anyways, but thats because I'm sucktastic :)

#240: Game won't start

by Easy on 06/04/2009 21:05

1)I use Windows XP pro

2) Ati Mobility HD 2600

3) Latest found on sauerbraten.org

4) The problem i have is, the game won't start, the DOS windows pops up, the screen turns black for half a second, than almost as if it crashes, everything shuts down without an error.
I tried reinstalling and running in -t won't work, still crashes.

first response:
install OpenGL drivers :P (aka, the ones from ATI)

and if using non-microsoft ones doesn't make a difference, I dunno
