Eisenstern back from the dead!

by NerdFencer on 08/08/2008 19:02, 50 messages, last message: 10/16/2008 19:58, 33586 views, last view: 05/05/2024 03:01

When it was said that Eisenstern was dead, a group of us got together to continue its development!

Here is a link to our Google Code Downloads page (We will try to update the download every day).

I know what a mac is and a MAC address.

So you are saying if I refer to the computer it you expect lowercase and upper case for the network address?

Just trying to help him out.

He probably expects you to say "Mac" for the computer and "MAC" for the address (it is an abbreviation, after all).

Exactly. Remember folks, most of computing is case sensitive. Mac, mac, MAC, and so on will all mean different things in most digital situations.

We were talking about compiling on XCode not networking. What difference does it make.

Very strange.

Have you an IRC Channel?

"We were talking about compiling on XCode not networking. What difference does it make."

A MAC is not a Mac, that's the difference. ;-)

Oh, while we're at it, it's Xcode, not XCode.
SCNR

BTW, ist the misspelling "eistenstern" on purpose?

I believe that the group name was already taken, although I did not set it up myself. Instead of criticizing this thread why not contribute. As I've said before we do not have an Apple Macintosh (any confusion?) person so why not volunteer for this position.

Back on topic, the IRC channel can be found on irc.quakenet.org in #eisenstern

Sauer is zlib'd, and Eisenstern is a sauer mod, then how is this new Eisenstern gpl3'd? If my history is correct, haven't you broken some copyright laws?

Probably just Google's silly limiting on licenses. See the new project on SourceForge:

Where are you guys collaborating? As in, is this the only place for public/development discussion?

You should disable the sf.net forums (which suck) and mailing lists (there are none) and task trackers (unless you intend to use them).

You should probably try and work with this guy to grow this Sauer group (put an eisenstern chat place there) because, frankly, this forum is too crap (not enough features, stuff gets lost very quickly and easily, more separation is needed so projects can concentrate on themselves and not get swamped by irrelevant threads, but wouter doesn't think this is a problem).

#45: License of media

by Timong.Balden on 10/15/2008 17:07

Hello there eisenstern team,

Would you please clear the licensing policy of your 3d models/artwork? You have a big lot of models in the repository and no license/copyright holder information in most of the cases. (Also there are some proprietary model derivatives from quake games, at least that's what i read in a license text. http://eisenstern.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/eisenstern/packages/models/monster/demoness/demoness.txt?view=markup )

It might happen that other projects (like mine, jcrpg) can benefit from already created media, so it might help a lot to all the free game dev community around to know what license is being used for that part.

(I usually try to include source files too (like blend) in repository, and add license. (Sometimes I might fail but the goal is to have license for all the artwork.))

Also this page needs updating to link to the correct (Sourceforge) project:

http://code.google.com/p/eistenstern/

Also you have so very dubious licensing going on in the eisenstern repo. You should sort through models that are suitably licensed and those that infringe on copyright and expediently replace the latter.

freegamer; feel free to join us on irc.quakenet.org #eisenstern and http://ironstar.platinumarts.net/.

Timong Balden; you are right and this will be attended to immediately.

Jahua; See the message to freegamer. Though I must warn you, we currently have 3 musicians working on the score.

fix'd

And we just can't afford to have more, it gets insanely complicated.

#50: recruiting texture artists?

by hotmitts on 10/16/2008 10:21

Do you have need for a texture artist?
I'm quite experienced from various mods and can draw, and would like to develop my modeling skills also.
Can provide examples.

We could use a texture artist. Drop by on irc.quakenet.org #eisenstern or email me at ironantknightATgmailDOTcom. I'm the lead artist on the Eisenstern team.
