And if you like some syntax highlight Notepad++ or Notepad2 does the job.
Or kwrite on linux.
And a simple terminal for compiling.
But thats just my point of view.

An editor... or an IDE? Editor, go with notepad++. IDE, go with Code::Blocks.

Notepad+ all the way. I love my auto-indent, saves me hundreds of keypresses every day.
gedit is good times too, though I've had trouble with its spellchecking.

LOL I was right. Open Dev C++, and find an option to import a visual c++ project (should be somewhere under the file menu) and go to C:\Program Files\Sauerbraten\src\vcpp and find the project. Compile it from there. Or download Code::Blocks and use the included project.

Servers that change gameplay in a noticeable way are not allowed to register on the official master server.
If you let it register and keep it up after being asked to take it down, you'll end up with your IP address banned from the master server.

you're not allowed more than 10000 entities for some reason. what that reason is, I still don't know. so good luck trying to place 31231231 entities of various monsters, maybe you can max the skill variable at 3123123 and play dmsp, or slowmo dsmp
the point is, you're not getting that many monsters in a level :P

So wait, you're having problems compiling, not editing?
When I played around with the cube engine a month or two ago I cut the move speed down by half because it was too dang fast for someone who was used to games like Call of Duty 4 or Rainbow six vegas 2. He's not necessarily hacking guys, he's just annoyed (even though CUBE is supposed to be like Quake, which does move unusually fast).
If you're getting errors compile time, make sure you have all the necessary WTL/ATL (i believe some are used?) stuff available (its all available from Microsoft in their Windows Platform SDK and other packages). If its compiling but u aren't seeing a speed change, you aren't editing the script right.

If you've downloaded the sauer package from the front page, simply edit out lines 1204, 1205, and 1207 (you'll notice you edit out an 'if..then' statement) and you can then use /floatspeed to adjust your speed. Default is 100, 10 is lowest (and slow).
