Nice, but what's the point?:)

I'd rather see someone implement some kind of extension for Sauer to use Jabber or something :))

This has been brought up on the Xfire forums half a million times, (ok about 15 actually but still). Xfire needs someone to create a code for Cube on Xfire. One that has servers. (Also Cube 2 of course). I created a Cube code earlier this year, but lost it. If I make a new code for Cube on Xfire (or someone else does) I will be sure that it has stat tracking, in-game messages, servers, the latest patches, etc.

go Xfire, you pwn GameSpy! (no offense, I have a GameSpy account also)

Xfire is not open source.
It should not be somehow supported by Sauerbraten or anything.

Sauerbraten doesn't support Xfire, Xfire supports Sauerbraten.

It means that Windows users can chat in-game to other Xfire users. Xfire simply invades on the game display area to accomplish this, it does not modify or require extra code in the Sauerbraten engine. I don't know what all you guys are worried about. This doesn't compromise the open-source integrity of the game in any way.

Ohh god. Men, we are in for a flood of idiotic post unimaginable in numbers and stupidity. It is time to set aside our differences and fight the fight of justice against the evil of the internet which has fallen upon us. xgmx has come to another just community and it is only a matter of time untill we are all dumber.

Drakas, all Sauerbraten needs to do to help Xfire is to add a launch argument that allows you to join servers, thats all. It means that through the Xfire menus, you can just hit 'join' while talking to a friend and find yourself on the server with them :)

And that wouldn't just help XFire users, it'd help everyone. For example, it would allow XQF to support Sauerbraten.

AFAIK this launch argument is already understood in recent CVS

What is the argument? I was looking at the CVS source and I didn't see a new one for connecting to a server. If you're referring to the -x argument used to execute cube script it isn't new in the CVS version. But it is an annoying way to join servers with...

It actually has to be more like

as drakas said it's implemented and it worked with a workaround before the -x command was added. The ones who use the "standalone serverbrowser" should know that it's possbile. there's no prob conecting directly. a newer version of the serverbrowser will be on soon, i just have to fix some bugs and add connecting to servers for ac
