#7848: Re: cube scaling badly on multicore?

by Aardappel_ on 04/04/2007 18:58, refers to #7843

sauerbraten's speed is almost entirely bottlenecked by the GPU. so making it utilize multiple cores would probably do nothing, it might even make it slower.

Also asset loading, perhaps. It'd be nice to lower the time to load thor...

If you type 't' (for text), followed by:

/name your_new_name

you should be able to change your name.

enabling "ati_textgen_bug" for an Nvidia GeForce? Not too obvious...

"sauerbraten's speed is almost entirely bottlenecked by the GPU."

Are you sure? I get a noticeable framerate boost @1600x1200 when I compile sauer with g++ 4.x and flags -march=k8 -msse3 -mfpmath=sse,387 -ffast-math

(X2 4600, nvidia 7950, 64-bit linux)

this is an nvidia card and neither ati_texgen_bug or nvidia_texgen_bug change a thing.

#7859: group/clan

by BumFluff on 04/06/2007 17:15

would anybody be interested in joinning a group of sauerbraten players in like a clan, im forming the basis of one so if you'd like to join then pop down to www.mbclan.tk. details are on there, and also a general question, what is the logic behind the weapon switching, why some weapons up on scrool wheel and some down on the wheel?

The weapon switching makes sense.
If you have rocket or mg ammo you get that by pushing up.
If you have shotgun or rifle ammo you get that by pushing down.
If you dont have ammo for a weapon you try to select it picks another one.

I like it, but lets not start another debate about it

If you want spaces in the name (insteado f underscores), then you have to enclose the name in quotation marks, like this:

/name "your new name"

#7862: HELP!!!

by E-Cap92 on 04/07/2007 04:35

I am trying to mod Sauer not for redistributing but for my own fun. When I try to recompile the code (Im using Dev C++) it can\\\\\\\'t. It says there are like 300 errors in the code. This leads me to think that I should use something else, if so, than what?

Please Respond

sauer and Dev-Cpp don't play well together. Try Microsoft vcpp
