Open "config.cfg" in your Sauerbraten folder (if you're using Windows, this is usually program files/Sauerbraten) using notepad. Look for a line that says "hidehud = 1". If it's there, remove it.

If that doesn't work, one of the bitmap text files could be corrupted somehow. Try reinstalling.

Here's my version of the nvidia driver.

I dont have have "hidehud" in my config.cfg, but I do have "hudgun 1". No, my files are not corrupt. I even tried redownloading and reinstalling before my first post.

Maybe you monitor has problems with the default resolution in Sauerbraten. Tried changing it?

Hmm, whats going on there? If it crashes right from the start, doesn't make any sense that its switching maps and gamemodes..

#7755: Waiting for connection...

by Fhtagn! on 03/17/2007 14:19

Hi.

I play sauerbraten for 6 month, and it perfectly runs, untill now. For a few days, all the server are "waiting for connection", even I update them. I try to re-install sauer, with the same result: it works perfectly, exept the server updating. (Consequently I can't play online, that make sauer slightly boring...). As a friend can play online, the problem would come from my computer.

Does anyone could help me?

It is actually - the bots are the same basic code - little spruced up for AC, but the commands are the same.

Hmm. How about pressing "T" for Talk?
And if you press "T" and enter "/name [it's me]" you've changed your name already ... try reading the manual again and also take some looks around

What's all this?!?
<SNIP>
read map packages/base/rampage.cgz (1305 milliseconds)
Castle Rampage by Fanatic modded by spentron
game mode is SP
savegame restored
</SNIP>

So the game runs ... but only crashes on restoring a savegame.
Was this savegame created on the same machine (or at least same architecture) - if not then it shouldn't actually crash but cannot ever work.

Please give more details.

Now your mixing stuff up.
AC already has the bots built-in;
you don't need to install them from that package. It's just the AC documentation doesn't go into waypoint-editing or any of the deeper bot-stuff - that's why you where pointed at that package, only for it's documentation.
OK?!?

linux400354: Are you using the precompiled binary that sauer comes with? If so, then you may want to try building it yourself instead.

Open up a terminal and paste the following lines (one at a time). Package names are taken from Debian, but hopefully this will work on Ubuntu too:

sudo apt-get install x11proto-gl-dev mesa-common-dev libsdl-image1.2-dev libsdl-mixer1.2-dev zlib1g-dev libpng12-dev build-essential

cd ~/sauerbraten && make && make install # change sauer path to suit

Duh, that should be: cd ~/sauerbraten/src
