Wow. AMAZING Curriculum Vitae :p
Wouter's traditional computer science background is in programming language design and compiler writing. However, as game play won him over, his career moved into game development, and he hasn't looked back.
His inspiration to pursue game development first came through playing games from id software. Wouter created a large collection of levels, gameplay and engine mods and even developed from scratch a multi/single player first person shooter called Cube, an open source game. He has solid experience with all subsystems of a game, engine and tools, particularly client-server game code, map editing, scene structure and visibility, artificial intelligence and scripting. He is also adept at C++, Java and a host of other languages.
He came to The Guildhall from the German game company Crytek, where he worked on their first person shooter Far Cry. There he created a new scripting engine and game programming language designed specifically for games. Earlier in his game development career he also created one of the most popular programming languages on the Amiga and worked as a consultant in languages and operating system design for Amiga, Inc.
Wouter earned his PhD in computer science from the University of Southampton, U.K. He also holds a Masters degree in Computational Linguistics from the University of Amsterdam and studied Italian language and literature at the University of Leiden, both institutions in the Netherlands. Wouter is fluent in English, German and Dutch, near-fluent in Italian and is conversational in French.

#6689: Still: VC++ runtime exception :-( |

Since there isn't much help here, i tried to investigate myself. I have successfully recompiled sauerbraten using MinGW with the corresponding makefile. This executable crashes with the same stupid VC++ 2005 "abnormal program termination" on exactly the same point of startup as the original executable. So i suspect, one of the (SDL-?)libraries is causing the trouble. I'm using an Athlon C processor capable of MMX but INcapable of SSE. I think this is the problem here. Is any library compiled with a more advanced instruction set, e. g. SSE or SSE2?
BTW: The cube game runs fine on the same machine. :?

Oh wow, he's even more megalomaniac & psycho than we thought. A nobody who thinks he's god. very pathetic.
He invented the hummer. Next we'll find out he invented sauer before it was even written, and will be asking royalties. I am scared.

I actually designed the hummer before I was born. The idea of a device that consumes natural resources without doing anything with them was one of my first embrionic thoughts

Another little trivia item for Aard's wiki page: his original name for the Hummer was Entropymobile but it was rejected.

His homepage + photo of his ugly pen0r face is here

He also described himself as he programmed most of the computer OS's while as Aard Appel had stated
"A nobody who thinks he's god"
I have to agree with Aard here.
