I hope this info helps to find out the prob.I also tested the card this is the only game it happens to.I am use to getting 500000fps

#6673: Strobe effect

Hi. Maybe it's just my stone-age video card (GeForce FX 5200), but whenever a new level loads, it creates a strobe effect; the sauerbraten logo alternates with the last frame of the last level. It gives me a bit of a headache to watch it. Is there any way to fix this?

You need to sort out what kind of video card you have. Is it a Quadro FX 3000? It sounds like someone built you a super expensive workstation not made for playing games, so you might need to try different video driver versions.

When I start Sauerbraten, it loads some time, then something flickers in the lower left part of the screen, and after that I get a Runtime Error ("abnormal program termination").

The background window looks like this:

"Could not set gamma" aounds weird indeed... maybe try a diffrent driver (given that card, maybe not neccessairily the latest).

through water?
So there is a pool of water and an

I have played around with water, air and glass materials but cant seem to figure it out.

You just make the correstpondent cubes water.. then you´ll just need to select the place where the tunnel should be (maybe you need to use auxilliary cubes and/or "selextend" command (to get that selected) and make that air again.

Hi. Just a (possibly) stupid question here. I stumbled across Cube before when it was still cube1, and had loads of fun
with it.

Now that I wanna make my own FPS, and with FPS Creator doing absolutely nothing for me, the question I ask is how hard would it be to perhaps do a total conversion of the Cube 2 engine? Add my own set of weapons, my own levels etc. And not so much how hard but...what would I need to do? Just what exactly? Can somebody lay down those facts for me?

Jumping from FPS Creator to the Cube/Sauerbraten engine is like trying to jump from a high building onto a flying F-16. You WILL fall!
There is no real scripting language to rewrite a whole game. There is no maker or builder for models or game related actions like weapons, bot/monster behavior ect. All that has to be coded. You need to create everything from scratch. Concepting weapons, model them unwrap them texture them and animate them. You need a First person model of the weapon and at least a pick up version. If you want to see the weapon in other players hands you might have to model another version. Creating all sound effects, making a motherlode of textures including effect maps like normals. Modeling the player models and monster models. Unwrap them texture them rig them animate them. On top of all that in game stuff you want to create the levels.
Sorry but creating a new game out of Sauer/Cube can´t be a one man show. Unless you have plenty of time...
