fragger is at www.jcdpc.tk you can just click the little thing on the side that says fragger and it will download. its not really that great of a mod, and im not sure if it really qualifies as one, but, its fun to try i guess.

The "SDL Parachute Deployed" is basically so the subsytem gets de-initialised properly when the program terminates abnormally, in this case being a segmentation fault (where a program tries to access invalid memory areas). For example, the parachute is disabled if the source is compiled with DEBUG enabled.
From the SDL manpages for SDL_Init:
SDL_INIT_NOPARACHUTE
Prevents SDL from catching fatal signals.
From your first message I'd guess it's trying to free a piece of empty space, so this is likely to be a cube bug, which rears its head on specific configurations like Fedora.

unfortunately the link to the .zip file leads to a 404... damn webhosts!
You should put a copy on Quadropolis:
http://cube.snieb.com/
If you want i'll open up an FTP next week and try to provide alternate downloads links.

#4010: Cube freezes on Fedora 3, NVidia |
by robertjensen

My FC3 system consisting of a slightly old NVidia graphics card runs Cube very well. However I do experience very frequent lock-ups - the game simple stops completely and the only way to get it back running is to switch to a virtual terminal and back, this consistiently brings back the game. In between the lock-ups the game runs excently.
I run the latest kernel and NVidia drivers.
Anybody knows this problem?

I had a similiar problem when searching for online servers (game would freeze) My fix was Option "DPMS" in the moinitor section of my xorg.conf (I have a LCD panel) Hope this helps, but may not :-)

#4012: Gentoo Linux and random Cube freezing |

Hello, I'm running Gentoo Linux 2004.3 and trying to run Cube. With luck it'll go for a few minutes just fine, but for no reason at all it freezes and the screen becomes distorted. I tried both emerging Cube via portage and downloading the binaries, yet I still get the same thing.
I looked through Google to no avail, as well as IRC. I have a nVIDIA Geforce4 128 MB card with the 6111 drivers, both running fine. So, what am I doing wrong?

Thank you for the advice
Unfortunatly it did not help. The option was already set, at removing it did not help either.
Any other suggestions?

I have a very similar config (Gentoo 2004.1, many things emerged to date, GF4 64Mo, don't remember drivers version) and never had a problem so it looks more like a XFree config or hardware problem(overheat?), do other GL games (Tuxracer,Torcs?) works fine on your config?
Also when it freezes, does it freezes only X or the full machine? (what happens if you switch to a virtual terminal (CTRL+ALT+F1)? when you kill XFree(CTRL+ALT+BACKSPACE)?)
Can you mail me your XF86Config so i'll try it on my PC.

what kind of ambient sounds?
i usually produce them by myself... just load up your favourite VST plugin in your favourite sequencer and start droning... ;-)
or record them by yourself by minidisk (that's called field recording, u know?) ;-)

i believe the most complete resources available would be partnersinrhyme or a1freesounds, both of which i frequent to find the materials necesssary for flash animations.
for a MOD though, something that you're putting real effort into, try to record your own sounds. it's alot simpler and cleaner.
