Bug Reports

by eihrul on 09/03/2008 01:41, 1175 messages, last message: 12/31/2023 08:39, 922982 views, last view: 04/26/2024 08:12

Please post your bug reports in here.

With your bug report, please submit the following information:

1) OS: Your operating system, i.e. Linux, Windows, or otherwise and what version you are using.

2) 3D card: The 3D card you are using. If you do not know, this is printed on the "Renderer:" line in the console when Sauerbraten starts up.

3) The edition of Sauerbraten you are using, i.e. Assassin edition, CVS as of a particular date, or otherwise.

4) Error information: If you are on Windows, a pop-up message showing filenames and line numbers should show up when Sauerbraten crashes; if possible, post a screenshot or a copy/paste of this. If on Linux, post a log of the startup info from the console, including relevant errors or any info you might have discovered. If on MacOS X, please post the crash log if applicable.

5) A description of the problem and how to reproduce it. Please give as much detail as possible on how someone can recreate the problem, in as certain terms as you can. If someone else can't reproduce the problem, it is unlikely he can fix it or tell you what is wrong.

#815: Building-SVN

by achille on 02/09/2012 18:20

I am on a Mac OSX 10.5 Leopard.

Since ~2 weeks I can't build the SVN code anymore.
I get 79 errors:

http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=YVhQa1ZA

I think I need the new version of XCode wich means an OSX >10.5. But it would be nice if I could keep building and playing sauer on this old macbook.

SDL support on previous versions of Mac OSX has been dropped due to incompatibilities introduced by Apple. No idea if this will be fixed in the future or not, it's a bit of a mess.

#820: Super high ping/ Low fps

by xHarvo on 02/11/2012 16:04

1. Windows XP
2. ATI RADEON XPRESS 200 Series
3. Justice Edition

I recently updated my drivers for my video card but when I try to play Cube 2, my ping would get up to 1000+ ping/2 fps in a instagib game and 300+ ping/10 fps on CTF. And when I play, the map gets missed up and static appears. The odd thing is that this never happened before I updated my drivers. After I updated my drivers, a I play other games like Quake and minecraft, my video card can run them alot better and my ping and fps are alot better. I already uninstalled and reinstalled Cube 2 and it still won't work. I also have high speed internet.

Reinstall the older drivers that worked. The problem is the new driver.

#824: SDL-Frameworks Patch for OS X

by FRIGN on 02/18/2012 18:45

OS X Lion 10.7.4 x86_64
NV GF 8600M GT
Sauerbraten SVN Revision 4024

Because of build issues on OS X Lion due to old SDL-Frameworks not including the 64bit-Architecture, I recompiled them (SDL_mixer, SDL_image, SDL) under the specified environment using the newest sources as of now.
I uploaded the frameworks as a patch (http://frign.de/sauerbraten/sdl_frameworks.zip). The contained folders are to be put into src/xcode/Frameworks/.

I just installed Win 7 Ultimate. When I run the game is had a terrible frame rate with windows display drivers, so I installed my nvidia drivers for my 9800gt. The game crashed after a while. I rebooted. The game keeps crashin either with BSOD or either just sits doing nothing. Fist tim I got an error:
Cube 2 Sauerbraten Win32 Exception 0xc0000096 [0xffffffff]
cubeloader::create_cubes - cubeloader.cpp [255]

Done. I can build it again with 0 errors.
But the game doesn't work.. the terminal give me this message:

Referenced from: /Library/Frameworks/SDL_mixer.framework/Versions/A/SDL_mixer
Reason: no suitable image found. Did find:

Generally that means that code (libraries/frameworks) have been compiled for a more recent version of the OS that what you are using.

Sadly this is neither the newest sources nor includes PPC code, and would prefer to use the standard SDL framework.
Ideally I'd like to remove the SDL frameworks from out of svn and instead just point people at the SDL website, but regardless I first need to determine a SDL setup with the widest coverage of supported osx machines - expect sauer svn to be updated soonish.

Please let us know what you learn. I'm hoping there's a way to approach this without losing backward compatibility with earlier OSX versions.

Use the latest SDL frameworks downloaded from the SDL website (which are SDL_image-1.2.12, SDL_mixer-1.2.12, and SDL-1.2.15) then i386/x86_64 builds and runs fine.

For the few that are running PPC then use an older SDL version.

Furthermore it seems Xcode 4.3.1 has become more fussy and you\'ll need to set the "run path Search Paths" to "@executable_path/../Frameworks" in the build settings
