(this message is in french, english and german, so everyone can respond !)

Hi everyone !
I\\\'ve troubleshooting with the building of a dedicated server.
In fact, the server just runs as it has to do, but he is not joinable by other players.
His status in server browser is \\\"waiting for response\\\".
On my firewall (Iptable) I saied to transfer incoming connection to port 28785 (UDP) and 28786 (UDP) to my server.

I don\\\'t understand why it\\\'s not working correctly. (I can join the game from LAN)

That's mean guys.

Snowy, Sauer has very efficient netcode, but there's no way you can run a server with high ping.

I believe the point was that you can't possibly have high ping to your own server. Your ping will be 0, since you will be connecting to localhost. Thus, he probably meant "a slow internet connection" and not "high ping."

Of course, assuming the server is run on the PC he uses with Sauer. Heh, I get 100 ping on my server, stupid wireless is working somewhat at the moment so I'm not going to touch it :/

Anyway, you'll find even DIALUP will host 2-3 players at playable speeds with Sauer. Standard ADSL is not much better than dialup for hosting, as its upload aint much better. The lowest end ADSL (256k/64k) with 64k upload could probably host 4 players without any problems (of course that would be sacrificing all of your upstream bandwidth), 128k upload would probably be preferable for 4 players though.

Gotta clear up the cable argument too.. 4 players max really, I've seen some cable 6 player servers and the lag can get real ugly.. and before you cablers mention how you download at 1 meg a second, remember that cable has an upload of 128k..

My Cable has a 400 kbit upload-rate (4000 down). ;D

Pings stay low for at max 6 players.

meh, the average cable has 128k anyway.

thats not right, saying that all cable is only 128k upload, as that speed is a selectable number from most hosts. I could pay some more to my cable isp and have up to 4mbps upload speeds...I did at one point have 1mb upload here, and could run 8-10 players at around 150 ping, if all people are in the US of course...atm, I'm at their basic 256k upload.

It's all about how much you want to pay ;)

Sorry, all I have to go by is the market here, so my advice might seem a little un-informed (Australia's internet landscape is over five years behind the US and Europe..) 256/64k 'fast' broadband rules supreme here still..

And the US is 10 years behind Asia, where 100/100mbps connections are standard...

Ah internetbox! Oh now I understand!
Ok heres a tutorial:

Enter "127.0.0.1" in your browser url, now you will get access to your internetbox. Then you should reach its terminal, now type "get shell", after that put this in the prompt:

IF internetbox 1 make ping 0

Your internetbox should work now, have fun.

shadow,516 - 100mbit up/down standard in asia? I really think you don\\\'t know what you\\\'re talking about... And most of the WORLD is really behind in Cable. I can\\\'t understand how people could pay 40$ a month for 512/128k cable with 10GB max up/down... It\\\'s extremely stupid. In sweden, most people can get 8/0,8mbit for about 40-60$/month, with no traffic limits.

100mbps internet in Japan is on offer to home consumers.

8mbps/800kbps for $60 a month (assuming US dollars) is actually quite expensive, I've heard of way better internet plans in Europe.

did you note that 100mbps could only exist in the china itself. inter-local communications probably are 100mbps while international are much much slower

I think I would lose it if they tried to cap my 8m/750k connection.
