lol, true!

ages ago i tried it on a:

900mhz pentium something (dont know if it was I II or III)
128meg ram
intergrated graphics !!

@ 640x480 cube would run ~30fps on metl3, was really slow on bigger maps like camera, it will run on anything

servers don't really have any requirements, do they?

Mac G4 Cube
OS X 10.3
450 mhz
448 mb ram
ATI Rage 128 Pro - 16 mb VRAM

20-40 fps Cube except on certain maps.
15-30 fps Sauer on certain maps, rest are unplayable :(

I still sometimes win Sauer instagib games on the maps I can play :) - who needs >15 fps?

Don't you just love old video cards?

(In August or so I'll be getting a new Intel iMac on which I'll dual boot Mac and Ubuntu - and maybe triple boot those with Windows if I can reconcile that with my conscience - that'll fix things.)

Hi,

Someone told me that recently someone posts here as \"wasda\". In case anyone wonders, this is not me. I have been \"banned\" from this forum by the mighty Aardappel, all my posts have been deleted, and I\'m not posting here any more. So, if any posts by \"wasda\" turn up, it\'s not me.

Sincerely,
J. Kroll, aka \"The wasda+ who makes EDM and was banned from the cube board\" :-)

Damn I don't want to know what I could get with no fps cap...

Specs:
Athlon 64 FX-53 @ 2.52 from 2.40(I want an FX-60... :(
1gb of crappy ass RAM
80gb 7200rpm IDE Harddrive
250gb 7200rpm SATA 1st Gen Harddrive
GeForce 7800 GTX (whee!!!)
A really old monitor (CRT, up to 1280x1024@75)

Anyone wanna try to beat that?

I tried it on both my legacy system and the family PC. Let's start with the former first...

-AMD K6-2 350 (366 MHz)
-128 MB PC-100 SDRAM
-SiS 530 int./STB Voodoo 2 12 MB
-Creative SB Live! Value
-Windows 98 SE/Windows 2000

Cube runs...kind of. You can hear the music in the background, but the V2 fails to display an image of any sort. I've tried practically every MiniGL driver I could find. I guess the Voodoo 2s just won't work with Cube...

And concerning Sauerbraten, if Cube doesn't work, it's probably not worth bothering with Sauerbraten.

Now, the family PC:

-AMD Athlon XP 1800+
-512 MB DDR-266 SDRAM
-ATI Radeon 9600 XT 128 MB
-SoundMAX Digital Audio
-Windows XP Home

Cube runs well over 60 FPS for the most part, and I don't really care much as long as the framerate stays above 60. Lowest I've ever seen it drop is in the 40s on that Egyptian-style map.

Sauerbraten also goes well over 60 FPS most of the time. It's dropped into the 30s in a few spots on one of the RPG maps, but never lower-which is good, considering how 30 FPS is my minimum acceptable performance level.

Note that I didn't bother going through ALL of the maps, nor did I add any AI entities during testing. Shouldn't be that hard to bring this artifact down to its knees...

Only 60FPS on Sauerbraten? You must have vsync enabled, my other machine with a 9600XT gets 140FPS+

Then do so...it's in your driver configurations. Keep in mind Sauerbraten uses whatever settings your video driver tells it to. You cannot tell Sauerbraten to do these things.

If you have an nvidia card, you can set individual game settings via the driver options. The drivers will then load the assigned settings for you...all you have to do is set the driver options once for each game you play, and save each as a unique name. I'm not sure if this nvidia driver feature works in linux...anyone tried it yet?

ATI drivers might have these features too...I don't know.

No, it doesn't work with the Linux drivers.

Titanium PowerBook G4, 1Ghz, Radeon 9000 M 64MB, 768MB RAM, 80GB 7200 Seagate.

With 1280x854 I get ~30 fps on curvedm, this is at the edge of playable. Smaller maps are faster, bigger maps are slower.

That´s pretty good, wouldn´t have thought it was playable at all on such a system.

I was messing around with vsync and when it's on I get 50fps. My monitor is set to 75Hz so I dropped it to 60Hz to see if it affected my framerate but, no, it's still 50fps! Howcome? (It's a Dell TFT if that helps :) )

I oced my PC today. My CPU is @ 3.76Ghz from 3.2, GPU (7800GT) is from 430core/1000mem to 480core/1100mem.

Set maxfps to 999, and I got around 220-300 FPS on melt4 :) (this is at 1024x768 with 4xAntiAliasing and 16xAnisotropic)
