Sauerbraten logo competition :)

I know we have some people with good graphic design skills on this board, and it would be nice to have a good logo for sauerbraten. It will be used in two places, on top of the web page, and on loading screens in the engine (I just added those :)

requirements are that it has a 4x1 WxH ratio, in engine we will probably use 512x128, but also supply higher res versions like 1024x256 or better for other uses. Format must be PNG, with transparancy, such that it will look good on a grey background (this webpage) or black (engine).

it should have the word "Sauerbraten" in it, and maybe "engine" (much smaller). Any additional graphics is entirely up to you.

Post results in this thread. Once we have some contenders you can all vote which you like the best, but I will make the final call :)

well, all your files are jpgs so I can't tell. And its not the characters I want changed, I want to be able to change the background.. to a dark colour. hence the suggestion in my previous post.

Yeah, I agree - I like it, but it looks awfully like the gamecube logo in the current colours.

yeah I agree we'd want to avoid looking like the gamecube, especially since its name is so similar too :)

There is no official colour. The gamecube uses something like purple, so lets stay away from that part of the colour spectrum.

orange, red, green, yellow are all worth trying, probably in that order (all, if not too much work).

orange would obviously look good with this page, is most opposed to purple, and its the dutch (my country) national colour :)

not to mention that it's very easy to distinguish from the Blue which seemed to fit cube so well, and generally fits with the prevalent atmosphere of the Sauer maps. when i made some sauer icons way back in the past i made them orange.

I think we need some thing more then a simple logo like the one benzina is making I think it is way to simple. It needs something to help it stand out. I don\\\'t know what it needs but soemthing i will try to get something up soon.

just invert the colors of benzinas latest pic, and you get an orange cube - also the light then comes from a different direction - but thats not bad at all...

ja, the orange looks the best regardless, though i like the red. the green's kinda sickly, i would have used a more teal-ish shade.
