hello all
i just released a mac version of Cube 2005_08_29:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/cube/cube_2005_08_29_mac.dmg?download
i've tested single player, but not multi-player. i've added a mac-specific "launcher-app" that lets you choose the screen resolution. i hope the release is ok.
if you have any issues post them here, i will try to take care of them when i come back from holidays in two weeks ;)
have fun

I\'ve tested this new version on OS X 10.3.9
Running great!
Danimal,
just type \"/connect <servername>\" without the quotes.

but i didn't use the app launcher. I've copied the autoexec file from my previous cube installation and ran the cube file from the subfolder

#21: OS X as a server |
by abq

I would like to set up a two machine LAN, both running cube on OS X.
I presume (?) one of the machines has to a server ..
I found the -d switch instruction, but not the command to use (I know, pretty dumb).
Silly me though I could run cube from terminal with the -d option, but that does not work either.
Help, and thanks !

sure it works (just tried it):
open Terminal.app
cd PathToMacCube/cube
Cube.app/Contents/MacOS/cube -d
btw. i have some ideas how to fix the serverbrowser hang (thanks to eiruhl) but i'm still waiting for aard to send me the official sources again so i can start hacking away ;)
i will also try to include the dedicated server executables next time round...

absinth, thanks
As you say, it works.
Navigating to the executable directory and typing cube -d fails ..
One of those unixy things, I suppose.

because this way cube won't find it's data files cause you are in the wrong directory...

#25: new version with serverbrowsing |
by absinth

hello all
i've updated the mac binary to finally support server browsing (instead of hanging). (i don't know if the fix is right, but it works for me ;) i've also included an option in the launcher to play in a window instead of fullscreen.
i hope everything works this time, please test the release ;)
btw: binary is built on 10.4, should work on 10.3, anything lower is unlikely to work...please report your success/failures..
url is the same:

The new version works on my updated mac box, thanks.
The version I got downloading from Apple.com was the old broken one though.

no it seems you are right!
some sourceforge-mirrors are still giving the old broken version! how much i hate that! and that altough they all report to have the same file size, though that should surely have changed.
needs more investigating...

at *least* "ovh.dl.sourceforge.net" (Paris) is feeding still the old broken file, and that after nearly 3 weeks.
/great/, sourceforge...

#32: glad it works for you guys |

I'm running an 1.25 GHz eMac, OS 10.3.4
The laucher goes. I choose a resolution and click ok or whatever it is. Then nothing else happens.
Similarly clicking on the cube app has very little effect.
Not matter where I put the files. I even tried it as they were in the disk image once.
Looking at the above (I'm not normally up to using the terminal) I did manage to achieve this in the terminal:
dyld: Cube.app/Contents/MacOS/cube can't open library: /usr/lib/libstdc++.6.dylib (No such file or directory, errno = 2)
Trace/BPT trap
Is it something I didn't do?
If it is, you might need to dumb down your documentation a bit.

could you try upgrading to 10.3.9 to see if that helps?
