Pretty sure you can't. For phpbb, you need three things available to you on the server.

1) php
2) an SQL server
3) webspace.

to my knowledge, only 3) exists on that.

A submit button that dosn't submit if you accidently hit enter would be nice.. ahem..

Lavaball, with regards to the insultive words, the majority of cube forum users, it seems to me, are far too mature and sophisticated to flame and use inapropriate language.

Is insultive a word? I ask this out of curiosity, i'm not trying to be insult<ive/ing>.
I think you mean insulting.

The colours are great, and ard can make us use his colours, not choose our own, which is nice. The cookie login is nice, but i can see it being annoying. I hate phpBB type boards cus i ALWAYS forget my passwords :-)

PHP nuke/bb quoting is nice, but we can all type things like -LavaBall Said: "insultive words"-

I am against the banning of insulting words. If someone is being aan asshole than we should ban them. Sometimes insulting word are just a lazy way of adding emphasis (note my use of the word assholl)

IMO there's no need to moderate/ban words, if someone use insulting words, no big deal that the message isn't deleted, that only makes him look dumb to other reading the forum.

like everyone else it seems, the only thing i could really use is a remote login system. this business of having 3 names, just so i can comment from three computers is irritating.

Use the "recreate my cookie" button.

You can use the same name using different computers, provided you can access the same mail on those computers to recreate the cookie.

Use some webmail accessible from everywhere and you're sure to be able to login to the forum from anything that has internet connectivity and a browser :)

And also don't forget to erase the cookie when you're done :) You may copy it to a diskette, label it "this is my Cube cookie" and, theoretically, do all kind of things with it. But in practice it probably won't work...

#24: new forum

by forum-crazed-user on 10/18/2004 23:58

Hey, I really like the idea of a new forum. Then you could upload, and log in form anywhere at any time.

I'm in favor. I reccomend Invisionboard or phpBB. I have adminned both, and like Invisionboard, better presonally.

I think it would be awesome.

You can eventually set Mozilla/Firefox cookies location (via some undocumented about:config option, or a nasty symlink trick) to the path of the floppy, that will probably work, but badly hurt browsing speed for sites using many cookies ;)

...if your floppy is mounted with "sync" on (the default for removable drives on windows)

lavaball, this website is a developement site for an engine, it's not a "chat" forum, this site exist for the SOLE purpose of creating and supporting Cube Engine and the "Cube2" engine =-P. Thanks for the heads up. But we can use PHPBB if we have too :P

#28: Forums

Unless Aard wants it, there won't be any third-party forums on this site. Plus, personally, I dislike avatars, graphical smileys etc. - again, this is ultimately Aard's decision.

I think that, as it is, this forum is very useful and straightforward. One key feature is the automatic message tracking that enables you to track new messages after your first visit without even creating an account (actually, each visitor creates an account automatically without knowing it). That is also why the login system is cookie-based and not username / password based.

I do understand though that the cookie system is a bit unhandy if you use multiple computers. If I ever get round to update the software, I will implement a solution for this. A hybrid system with cookies and optional username / password would be fine by me, if Aard gives it a thumbs up.

Also I agree that some sort of quoting markup might be useful, too. Again, if I ever update it, I'll implement that functionality.

Look at Gamedev.net - once you get a full-fledged forum, you get people discussing everything - the election, their last date, etc. More political flaming than on-topic discussion.

yeah, this is the most on-topic forum ive ever seen. Altough, i wouldnt mind having an "off-topic discussions" thread.

Then create one, and if it gets a lot of action, it might get into the permanent threads list.
