Cube & Cube 2 FORUM

Four, a new multiplayer map. made for teamplaying

by macher_ on 04/18/2004 01:29, 57 messages, last message: 05/17/2004 17:38, 16251 views, last view: 05/18/2024 06:30

Hi, I've made a map for cube called Four.

It's a map made for teamplaying instagib or deathmatch. the name four comes from the four fortresses in the map with water between. If Cube in future versions support different spawn points for different teams I'll add that. The textures is maybe a little bit boring but I've made so many maps with egyptian style and future style wouldn't fit in.

You can see screenshots and download the map from my site: medlem.spray.se/macher/hemsa/default.htm (I know, the site isn't the best but it works). Please comment it and tell med what i can do for the next version.

Happy playing!//macher

Well I guess Notepad isn't an HTML editor then ;) ... user have any responsibility here?

I use Front Page (Express) mostly need to learn what to watch out for and still need to know what can be done ... but it wouldn't be usable without the direct HTML edit feature.

"Have you made any other maps? make your website better and post them. Don't use Word, learn html, it's really easy, or if you want, you can send me your stuff (via email), and I'll build you a site."'

I didn' saw your post before now, I'm terribly sorry for no reply. Thanks for the offer but right now I'm building a new site and I'll update it soon!

Yes I've made a lot of maps but they was erased after a harddisk crash :(. This is my first official release, but I'll release more soon!

In fact I made the first verison of this mapo in an hour when we needed a fun map to play on a LAN :). But the latest relese took longer time. the third an probably last will have different textures, better architecture and different architecture styles on the fortresses but not as much so it will make the playing experience different with different teams.

I can't wait to play your next version of 4.

I see none I my pages pass the W3C validator due to their fascist requirement of a DOCTYPE declaration. Screw that, if a perfectly good HTML page (e.g.<HEAD></HEAD><BODY>Hi!</BODY>) doesn't pass, screw it ...

From W3C HTML 4.01 Specification:

"A valid HTML document declares what version of HTML is used in the document. The document type declaration names the document type definition (DTD) in use for the document (see [ISO8879]).

HTML 4.01 specifies three DTDs, so authors must include one of the following document type declarations in their documents."

Thus, a document without a DOCTYPE is not a valid HTML document.

Funny enough, if everyone followed this "bureaucracy" in the first place, we wouldn't have all this crap in form of IE-only web sites.

While I respect their desire to change the world, they're going to need a lot of help if they ignore what everybody else has been doing ...

Nah, it's those people who do it will (actually, do) need a lot of help to get out of IE (read: Microsoft) lockdown. W3C couldn't care less; they just make the standards and publish them. Following them is in _our_ interest - if we don't, we face the consequences.

i use mozilla. it's good, but it's not MS so there are some things that it doesn't work nicely with (music videos at yahoo) but overall it's better then IE plus it's not owned by theiveing monopolizing evil bill gates.

I've compressed everything, incl loadsky and cfg. The adress is: http://medlem.spray.se/macher/hemsa/download-filer/four.zip

Just uncompress the zip file and place the folder "macher" in cube\packages

start the map by writing "map macher/four3" in the console

The previous releases are also included in this zip file

Then you should use the HTML editor of Mozilla, it has a very well done integration of mixed manual+wysiwyg HTML editing, plus also a preview that makes the subdivisions of the page visible(contours of each element, very useful for complex structures/layout

Lol... the map name means poo in swedish.

I'm August friend and he told me pretty much about your map, but he has the older map version, bajsibastun.cgz (that means Poo in the sauna)

I think i'm gonna put my futuristic map on my dads homepage, called Water Station (in english :)

plz tell me that that's multiple words, and there isn't a single word for "poo in the sauna" in Swedish. I'd like to think that its not a common enough event that there's a single word for it.
