New release within a month or so

by eihrul on 03/26/2009 18:52, 104 messages, last message: 04/27/2009 05:53, 58856 views, last view: 05/19/2024 03:24

Since people are getting a bit antsy, I figure I'll just say that the release will be roughly within a month. :)

That means if you have release quality maps that you want to try to get in the release, you should both give me advance notice here ASAP, and also make sure it gets on Quadropolis within the next week or two.

I'm thinking a predetermined list of bot names like UT2004.

Clint, Malcom, etc.

Ogra, Ogrob, Ogroc, Ogrod, Ogre, etc :)

Or we could do Ironsnout, Coppersnout, Uraniumsnout.

Fog can still be disabled in multiplayer, providing players with a large advantage on maps such as" frostbite".

I am always pleased to see people mention "Frostbite":)

All maps need waypoints ! I am creating waypoints.

Sauer needs new screens for the "screens" page.

I love Frostbite. :)
But I don't like how the snow-floor transitions to the walls. :(

But this isn't the place for this.

In the theme of "polish Sauer to a blinding professional glare", I recently tried to contact save, the author of battleofthenile. His map is very unfinished, but somehow a part of SVN: I thought it would be a good idea to get him to bring it up to standard, or at least offer to do it for him.

However, save's email is no longer in use, I get a recurrent DNS error when I try to contact him. Should I assume that he has abandoned his map, and go ahead and update it, or should we assume that we shouldn't do that? Battleofthenile is missing several things (among them waypoints, a mapmsg, geometry to fix the water/skybox HOM error...), so I really think that we shudl go ahead and bring it up to speed, leaving the original readme intact of course.

You can try, I guess. If he objects, he'll let you know about, eventually. :P

Sent you an updated version of my map; seems like you don't check your email inbox often, huh? ;)

Hi everybody, i've got a lot of questions today.
I heard that a movie recording feature is going to be implemented in the upcoming release .
Is it true ? Is it already implemented in the SVN ? How does it work ? Is it better then using FRAPS ?
What about the new sounds ?
Is the announcement feature for the "frags in a row" is going to be implemented one day ?
Are the new hudguns far from their final estate or they're almost finished ?
You can't see when a player zooms or not while watching him as a spectator.
Can't you code it ?
Is the AI of the bots finished ?
And to finish :
When does the financial crisis is going to stop ? :P

@Maxime -Max of S2D- Lebled : there is no interest, no geometry, no gameplay, no detail, no layout, no nothing in your map.

#76: Waypoints

by Goober on 04/09/2009 16:12

I\'ve already done waypoints for some map... I think it was \"neonpanic\"... well it was neon something :P

I\'m going to spend some time today doing some more and sending them over to get put on the svn.

Looks pretty cool - I'll check it out in a minute.

If you need me to - I'll do the waypoints for it ;)

I saw in the SVN that some of the docs had been updates, but alas, the editing reference has not been updated. Could someone please add in documentation on waypoints? Also, could someone please undo the

typo in the documentation (all the Entity types fall under Blending Hints and Tips).

#81: Maplists

by Goober on 04/10/2009 17:02

Perhaps it should be looked at to develop a system to automatically make the maplists. For example:

Every .ogz in \base\ would be listed under FFA, if the .ogz contains "base", list under capture, if the .ogz contains "flag", list under ctf... and so on.

This would save everyone the trouble of having to update menus.cfg every time there is a new map officially added to Sauerbraten, would make finding maps easier (I assume they would be arranged alphabetically) and would automatically add any maps that anyone has added to their Sauerbraten to their lists so they don't have to go messing with their menus.cfg

Does anyone know who I should talk to about getting a user account to commit changes to the svn?

Uh, eihrul? -_- Having to ask that question is not a ringing endorsement of your community knowledge/trust level though.

I was going to ask him at first, but I didn't know if it was him who personally managed the SVN. I'll ask him then.
