Most Wanted Feature

Hello all... this thread is for discussing features you would like to see in cube, and in particular those that you find most urgent. If lots of people have the same urgent requests, I may give it priority to be implemented.

No, "/bind mouse2 [universaldelta +1]" does bind increasing the universal delta to the mouse button 2. And universal delta controls the weapon you're carrying. So just try this command and see what happens. ;)

Probably doesn't work, but it's worth a shot. That'd cycle through, 0-6 whenever you pressed X.

The mouse wheel is both a blessing and a curse. It is a great tool to use in many situations, but on many somewhat older laptops, there is a pointer device built into the keyboard (touchpad for example or that little mouse pointer button thing sitting between G, H and B...) but that device often does not have any scroll wheel.

Yes, I know, one could attach an external mouse to the laptop but that makes the use of the laptop less flexible (which may be important when doing some spontanious, causal gaming with friends), as you for instance cannot really sit down in a comfortable armchair and blast away (which you conveniently can if you use the internal pointing device of the game).

So investigating ways to play sauerbraten and other games without the mid button are definitively worth the effort... (regarding cycling weapons, there is of course the keys 1 through 6, to pick weapon at once)

Of course, there might be clever ways for various laptop pointer devices to emulate the scroll wheel. Probably Google can provide some advice, even if the solutions probably have to be pursued separatly for Windows, Linux and MacOS X. Maybe I'll have time to check this out for Linux later, especially as I have a couple of Linux laptops to use that functionality on.

try those binds, you can try opposite values though. you should find quite pleasantly that Page up and Page down now does the scroll wheel's job.

once you're done spamming, try the following bind.

/bind Mouse2 [universaldelta (- (rnd 2) 1)]

Might not work like you'd want it, cause it will select a random number between -1 and 1 (and uncluding them)

oh well, you got your wish, right mouse only :P

This is exactly how it works with the scrollwheel, too. Wheelup switches between rockets, machinegun (if you have them), wheel down between shotgun, rifle and grenade launcher. By default you can't cycle through all your weapons, and I like the idea, especially since playing Urban Terror most of the time and often selecting the wrong weapon since I picked one up which I didn't "buy"...

Actually, in Urban Terror I use a custom set of scripts for weapon switching, so that I only cycle through my primary, secondary, and sidearm. To my knowledge you cannot script Sauerbraten to behave quite this way, since we lack the ability to guarantee the we select a given weapon or don\'t change.

Whenever destructible mats come up as a suggestion, the issue that always negates it is light rendering, and the infinite combinations of destroyed/undestroyed cubes that the engine would have to render.

So why not just use ice, or some other destructible and transparent material? Being transparent, it doesn't cast a shadow, so light rendering is no longer an issue! Would that work?

Or just rendering light as if the volume didn't exist, which works (but looks quite silly). Either way, it's a mess.

That could work, so long as they weren't soft shadows and no light got around the edges. But that seems impractical/impossible in fully destructible terrain.

I think that Sauer would look better if the hudguns had idle animations, like subtle breathing. and if the guns were idle for a while longer, then maybe an animation were the player "plays" with the gun, example: hits it on the side or something.

Another thing I think view bobbing similar to the hudguns would look awesome.

Wow...

View bobbing? That's the fist piece of game degrading candy I turn off in a FPS. It can really gork your aim up. Are you sure you want that in such a fast-paced game?

I agree about the Solaris hudguns though. They fit in with stock Sauer quite nicely. Too bad I usually play with hudguns turned off (like some other long time FPS players)

the DEV's have made it CLEAR they don't wan't mods that change gameplay on master server so I am asking for a way to change the master server via a command and allow for multiple master list to be use at one time
IE
"Offical master server list >unofficial MOD masterserver [combine both lists ]send to > client"
this would allow some one to set a master server for mods and allow there master server to copy the official list and send it to the clients that have chosen to use A alternative master server

because DAZZA of w00p clan made a great mod of the efficiency mode thats a blast and a MUST PLAY but the dev team won't allow it on the server I made this post of my own free will with no

Pretty simple to do, if I'm correct about -m working for both client and server. Just specify a new one. Or, even more devious: start up Sauerbraten twice in the same batch file, the first time loading up the smallest plain map you can, executing a getserverlist or whatever it is, and then quitting; the second time, loading the same map, then doing a getserverlist with the other master server.
