Most Wanted Feature

Hello all... this thread is for discussing features you would like to see in cube, and in particular those that you find most urgent. If lots of people have the same urgent requests, I may give it priority to be implemented.

I did a search and did not turn anything up on these topics. Tell me if this is a good idea.

Persistent scoring in multiplayer

I find that during a good game maybe near the end someone might get dropped (connection issues..etc)so they are not included in the final frag counts. It would be kind of nice to see everyone that connected during a game and see the total score.

Extended Scoring

Another feature I would not mind seeing is extended frag statistics. Like how many frags you got against each player, most frequently used weapon, frags per weapon. I think this might help hone your skills.

Any thoughts?

Now I know that this isn't Half-Life or anything, but here's a few suggestions anyways. First of all, it'd be nice if your guy didn't do his idle animation when he's been standing still for like two seconds, and it'd be even nicer if the idle animation didn't keep playing when you're shooting while standing still. Like many other people, I'd like the ability to crouch (although this may cause undesirable effects on certain maps), weapon movement animations, and a better punch animation.

I'd also like to see a couple of commands for single-player mappers, such as the ability to remove all weapons (except for the fist, of course), and the Cube-like ability for triggers to remove cubes (I don't expect this, though).

These are all suggestions for features, and I don't expect almost any of them to be implemented, but it's okay. Sauerbraten rocks as is.

Oh, and I'd like to see the new GUI completed, it looks awesome ^^

Actually it would be good if you was able to specify for example if to record matches or not!

try doing a clean install of sauer, and seeing if you still get the problem.

Make real ladders like in Action Cube and elevators !!! All games has elevators AND jumppads AND ( real ) ladders.

The C touch must make you bend !

im sure all of these have been suggested but fwiw, my most wanted feature list...

*aesthetic*

- non-ogro (human, maybe?) player models
- female voice announcer (or at least something that doesnt sound like a depressed andre the giant)

*gameplay*

- "The C touch must make you bend !"
- maps with only one spawn point are not dm maps. Maybe don't allow dm to be played on such maps?
- real ctf (2 teams, grab opponent's flag, run it back to your base) - current capture mode is cool too though dont get rid of it =)

*other stuff*

- /getcfg and /sendcfg! ;)

you sound really stupid and really much like a noob!

You should appreciate the game!

The game is good as it is, with ogro models. Shooting at the hand - don't you realise that the game is in development? It is not supposed to be some crappy realistic game like call of duty or other total shit that is soo boring to play!!
If you wanna play boring games, you can simply go to a game shop and get an XBox360 with call of duty - you should then be satisfied. What's with the realism??


Right... maybe if you think that these things are just easy, such as ladders elevators and jumppads - why don't you do them yourself? You seem to know much about development, don't you ;)

Platforms (elevators) are very complex. Don't start pushing that crap like everyone else who is soooo stupid to push it! This game is for free, don't just assume that this game is going to be other piece of crap like many released that cost!

Sauerbraten rules because it is different - it is fast paced, fun, unrealistic and simply amazing :)I <3 Sauerbraten :) Good job, Aard :) Thank you :)

I just feel sad that some people don't appreciate the work like Destroyer1 :(

really his suggestions are not bad from a non-developer point of view. Players should not be expected to understand how complex a feature might be to develop, and this IS a most wanted features thread...

@ogros - ogros, and only ogros, sucks. It just looks silly. imo, the game would look a bit more serious / finished / professional if we could acquire / allow more player models or if we are going to use only one, use a better one...

@handshots - he probably doesnt understand the nature of hitboxes. Even so HEADSHOTS doing more damage would imho kick ass (helmet powerups could even be added), i don't believe this should be too much trouble to develop but i say this with hesitation now that ive read through the source a bit (sendmap, yikes)...

@elevators (Me and you, your momma and your cousin too) - yeah, doing elevators the standard way (mobile map geometry) might be damn near impossible.. but what about sauer's door approach, using md3s? Couldn't this be applied to elevators / moving platforms as well, using moving or animated md3s? I don't know, but it doesnt seem beyond reason... And i don't think map designers would say it's "stupid" to suggest a feature like this...

all im saying is, don't flame him because you dont like his suggestions, after all this is a suggestions thread.
