-I-lost-my-cookie-and-can\\\\\\\'t-get-my-name-back syndrome... ok wat if I am not at my home pc and want to check on the latest sauer news on my break or something am i expected to waste time restoring my cookie on another system when i could just login with a user name and cookies are not all the secure "not that it matters to me anyway but...."

but EDIT and formating would be nice
I will even get a copy of vbulleion or invasion power board if needed some times less is not more :D

You can just look at the board without re-creating the cookie. The only thing I see the forums needing is an edit post function. There's no need for some huge overblown piece of bloatware, really. This forum works, but an edit function would be nice.

but then i need to sift thought all the post's "sometimes over 1000" just to read the one i wan't
also the forums "curb appeal" should be considered some look at the simplistic setup and turn tail and run sub forums
custom per thread text search and the like provide better organization making posting and finding the info you need quickly fun and easier IE sticky READ BEFORE POSTING containing known issues fixes and work arounds would cut down on the "WHY DON'T IT WORK" threads the current forum is overly simplistic and hurts the current members and new comers alike " point I have been trying to make for ages "P"

You're too lazy to click a link, type your email, and then do one copy-paste (which, by the way, is exactly the same amount of work as clicking a link, typing a username, and typing a password, if not less work depending on your password strength)?

Besides, if you can't remember the last post you read ("Oh, it was me rambling inanely about stickies") then you need a refresher anyway. I frequently review the last 20 posts before adding anything to a thread, even if I've read the last 19 before.

Also, FYI- you haven't been around for "ages". People who can remember Quad or Death Illustrated releases qualify as being around for ages.

if you bothered to read the post I said I have been asking for a better forum for ages like since i joined "not me havening been here for ages "as for the rest of your reply

if your gonna cast your vote against improving something you need a better argument then "o simple is better cuz I am a cmd line sucking Linux nerd "or wat have you" people don't always go for simple and sweet IE the reviews sauer has gotten in the past"

this forum does the job but not much else this is a case where good enough is just not GOOD ENOUGH

and before you go ranting off on some I am a idiot tangent look at how I made my post and look at yours i made a few valid points all iget from you is a one liner

"You're too lazy to click a link, type your email, and then do one copy-paste (which, by the way, is exactly the same amount of work as clicking a link, typing a username, and typing a password, if not less work depending on your password strength)? <thats some real good trolling got any tips"

The point is.. there are some really nice fully featured open-source messageboard systems, that can be installed very quickly (takes maybe 2 hours at the very max), that are just a lot nicer than this one.
It would allow for proper sub forums (including other language ones), private messages, editing, proper image embedditing (spelling?) etc.

If a new forum does get considered, I'm all for turning off avatars and signatures.

On a lot of forums, I end up turning off signatures anyway, because the users load them up with huge images. Takes way too much away from the content.

I think this forum is here to stay. It works fine for what it is, a basic discussion board. However, just in case: Phorum!

You could just make a rule saying that images in signatures are not allowed, you can also put a size limit on avatars using the webmaster's/main admin's control panel(50x50, 5 KB sounds good =P)

Heh heh, Death Illustrated was an odd concept. Quad was actually what sparked my interest in cube modding, pushplay did some pretty nifty stuff back then. That was all before even I was hanging out around here.

You and your Electroconvulsive Therapy. I'm pretty sure Death Illustrated doesn't contain that, and I know Sauerbraten doesn't.

DI does have a main menu, but I'd prefer to keep Sauerbraten's menu as it is, where you just spawn in an empty map with the menu open.

Where are you getting main menu from? "Main Menu" was most certainly not the antecedent to my "that" in my previous post, as the antecedent was "Electroconvulsive Therapy", which Homicidal abbreviates to "ect" in many of his posts.

Why he uses "electroconvulsive therapy" where he probably means "et cetera" is beyond me, though.

Homicidal, relax. Feel free to restate your opinion on game polish, but keep it polite. Demothenes was just teasing.
