Request: Sauerbraten Winter/Snow-edition

I want snow! Snow on the ground and sonw that is falling from the air, rain and wind would be cool to. Will someone implement this sometime or how is it planned? What do you think about it? Raise your voices for snow in sauerbraten in this thread! ;)

Who exactly is 'we'? I personally think that vehicles would 1) branch out from the main goal of Sauerbraten, that is, simplicity, and 2) be quite complex to implement

what do you mean it's complex, quin already did that in sauermod, with the kart racing simulator. (launched with -gkrs), and it's actually a very lovely demonstration. Note I don't understand C very well yet, so I haven't red the code.

That wasn't so much vehicles as it was modified player code.
And it didn't work too well, either.

I, personally, wouldn't mind vehicles in the RPG, but I don't think that vehicles would be good for the FPS (unless we got some big capture or objective-based maps).

For now, the answer still stands, no.

That works, yes, unless you want to open a map directly. Then it goes ahead and loads ie mapofyourchoice.ogz anyway.

Isn't metl4 designated in a cfg somewhere?

Well, I found it in fps.cpp:

char *defaultmap() { return "metl4"; }

So, probably not. It wasn't in data\defaults.cfg, anyway.

Very much so. The KRS was a lovely demonstration of how to hack the engine, but nothing more. It is just the same player movement code in Sauerbraten, with a few hacks from the game side to "influence" it, far from being a working example of how to make vehicles in Sauerbraten.
