#139: shadows?

by staffy04 on 02/18/2004 07:29

just make some pillars or a doorway or whatever then add in about 2 to 4 \"32 255\" lights (in the same spot)or whatever colour you want in so that the pillars (or whatever) block out the light in the position you want. then save the map. reload it. then delete the cubes you used to make the shadows if you want. don\'t put anymore lights near where the shadows are or you will ruin your work.

the dynamic shadows don\'t work with objects that are not from the floor to the roof.

You shoot a rocket, the only source of dynamic light.

well that's alright then. it is possible to make better shadows using this to make bigger lights: scalelights RP IP.

rp stands for % radius.
ip stands for % intensity.

#151: random, unfixable, HOM effect...

by e:n:i:g:m:a on 02/23/2004 06:12

Ok, I don't actually know if this is a software prob or a video-related problem, but... I made a factory-industrial style map, but it started out very small. I made it bigger, but when I started etching out wall to build new rooms, I would, at seemingly random intervals and spots, get a HOM effect that I couldn't fix other than by eliminating that section of wall or building over it. Anway, is that just a problem with the game, or is there some other method of remedeing the dreaded HOM effect?

There's a bizarre bug that turns a large block of filled cubes into an HOM. It only happens when all the cubes towards one of the borders are filled. You can fix it by making one of the cubes behind it unfilled. It makes the rendering less efficient blah blah blah.

I have the same problem("mirrored" player) on both LINUX and Windows. Any suggestions how to solve this?

#155: solving 2 for the price of 1 ;)

by D.plomat on 03/04/2004 11:33

The 5fps problem is a video driver problem. get latest drivers and install'em.

The mirrored player is a bug on the server side. contact the server maintainer so he installs the fix.
