ATTENTION: LINUX USERS!

There were some major reentrancy problems in the server browser on Linux, which can and did cause many lockups when trying to connect to servers in the list. I have created new client binaries that fix this problem; get them at:

http://tunes.org/~eihrul/cube_linux_clients_2002_10_28.tar.gz

ENet (the source code) was likewise updated to fix the problem, so if anyone is trying to compile Linux clients, you might want to get the updated code:

#10: Patched?

by Unifex on 02/24/2003 13:48

Any reason the patch hasn't been added to the main source yet?

by bobbity on 03/13/2003 13:31

my copy locks up also when using the in game server browser
I have had to take to browsing for servers on the web site and using `connect <servername> to connect instead of the menu. Otherwise it runs beautiful 200+fps of death and destruction

This forum needs a "sticky threads" feature.

Or maybe you should install a Perl script on the server that'd bump all the "official announcement" threads on daily basis =)

#24: Cube@FreeBSD

by Mellerti on 11/19/2003 19:53

Anyone able to join multiplayer games from FreeBSD clients? I\'ve compiled cube under FreeBSD 5.1 (from ports)... and it runs NIIICE... but it can\'t join any games... I get the message \"Illegal network message (type)\"... any suggestions?

You're screwed. The released souce has a different protocol than the official binaries. Quad has no such problem, but has no server browser (and probably no constant servers).

Well, you're using Debian unstable ("sid" is just a euphemism :)).

Probably just an issue of the older libs Cube is using. But this'll be fixed soon.

I know very few the Debian, why is the unstable called "sid" (s.i.d?)?(or maybe it's my lack of english knowledge?) what does it stands for?
