ATTENTION: LINUX USERS!

There were some major reentrancy problems in the server browser on Linux, which can and did cause many lockups when trying to connect to servers in the list. I have created new client binaries that fix this problem; get them at:

http://tunes.org/~eihrul/cube_linux_clients_2002_10_28.tar.gz

ENet (the source code) was likewise updated to fix the problem, so if anyone is trying to compile Linux clients, you might want to get the updated code:

no it doesn\\\'t..it crashes my entire machine and I have to ctrl-alt-out of it..

I'd like to point out that when joining multiplayer games under linux my system ALWAYS freezes, however I can shut down X via ctrl-alt-backspace and try again.

Also I tried your replacement binary (which is named ppc_linux_client?!) and get the error
bash: ./ppc_linux_client: cannot execute binary file

Is this a combination mac/linux binary? why won't it execute?!

#8: still locks up

by ruthven78 on 02/02/2003 00:52

anyone got any suggestions? Using Mandrake 9.0 I chmod'd the whole damn directory so I know its not a permission problem.

Everytime I go to connect to a multiplayer server it locks up with sound still playing. I have to Crtl+Alt+Backspace to get out of it....dont feel like a complete reboot.

Any reason the patch hasn't been added to the main source yet?

my copy locks up also when using the in game server browser
I have had to take to browsing for servers on the web site and using `connect <servername> to connect instead of the menu. Otherwise it runs beautiful 200+fps of death and destruction

This forum needs a "sticky threads" feature.

Or maybe you should install a Perl script on the server that'd bump all the "official announcement" threads on daily basis =)
