You think so? I didn't know about the mac app. I can try doing a windows launcher if there's need for it and it has any chance of being included in the windows release. And also if some serious programmer around here doesn't intend to work on that already. Ouch, lots of ifs.

Well, you basically need a GUI which passes several arguments from selectable/clickable items to the sauerbraten executable.

You guys know that Cube Legends had a launcher, don't you? It's not hard to make, my older brother wrote me one just as a passing gift. Here's the version he has hosted on his website. Please don't spam him, I would be most upset.

I know that sauerbraten supports md2 and md3 models, but does anyone know a good application that can convert other game models into these two types of models?

also see

and forget about md2. Use md3.

This RTFM stuff probably isn't good for community growth. (I know that I have been gone for years, and it will likely be years before I post again)

#7720: Player Skins

by kylemallory on 03/12/2007 17:58

So, we've had the Sauerbraten server running for about a week in the office now. Everyone really enjoys the game-- There are a few things that we are still trying to figure out, but they are pretty minor.

One thing that has demanded some attention from my boss, is player skins. So, I've been "assigned" to figure out how to make it work.

I think I've read that this isn't currently supported by the engine? Though it seems relatively straight forward-- it already allows different skins per team.

So, my question is, where would I look in the code to find out how this is done, and provide even limited, basic support for it?

Lol, where do you work? Any openings available? :P

fpsrender.h defines the player models.

Excellent... Just what I was looking for.

Now, I just need some clever way to handle this without rewriting the client struct- Team-name might be a good way, since we only play DM.

Thanks again.

As for openings-- believe me, the hour long frag-fest at the end of day on Friday is the highlight of the week... The rest is boring java-based web-apps for state government. :-{

The server database went down, and I wasn't getting a response-- though apparently, they were still posting. Someone is welcome (encouraged) to delete the repetitious postings!
