you can't. just get on with it. you cannot connect to your external ip through your internal ip. impossible. anybody else, though, will see your server, so don't worry

OK I have one more question. How do I change the name of my server? When I read the doc I saw there was a command to change the description of the server. But is that the same what I mean?: The name of a server? Or am I wrong? In that case, how do I change the name of my server?

One more thing: How do I enter the commands that starts with a - like the -n command? As a ingame console command or what???

No, you enter it when starting the server as commandline argument. I expect someone named "SUSE" to know what a commandline argument is... ;)

#7352: General graphics issue after once playing Sauerbraten |
by xgrg
on 01/10/2007 03:07

Hi,
I've got a big problem since I tried to run Sauerbraten on my machine (Dell Inspiron XPS / GeForce Go 6800 Ultra). Indeed, since then, my screen displays some strange patterns (vertical blue) and this even during the Dell start screen. When I select my Windows partition, the "characters" screen is spoiled by parenthesis )) )) )) while the "graphical" screen (i.e. showing the desktop) doesn't appear at all, showing a black screen.
When I select my Linux partition, the screen is spoiled by these same vertical blue patterns, and startx gives nothing but a white screen with some buggy patterns.
I realized that running Windows in VGA mode and in failsafe mode is fine : as soon as I want to change the resolution, the screen goes black and I must power off the machine.
Any idea ? This is very annoying.. :(
Thanks for any help !
G.

Maybe I should add that the problem appeared just after I tried to play Sauerbraten. Playing was okay until the game just froze and I had to power off the machine.

looks to me that it is something to do with either a faulty gpu, its memory, pc memory or the local cpu. run memtest and other diagnosis software to see what might be wrong.
How much RAM do you have for your PC and your GFX?

I have this same fear. argh.
My configuration is : CPU > 2 GHz, 1 Go DDR2 SDRAM 533MHz, GPU NVIDIA
GeForceTM Go 6800 Ultra with 256 Mo DDR3, 17" monitor WUXGA (1920 x 1200).
I'll try memtest. Never heard about it so far. May you give me some more details about how it could help me ?
Thank you !!

Ugh, thats bad luck for you, unfortunately I doubt you can replace it considering its a Dell XPS system.. but if its an XPS then its probably relatively new, get it fixed on warranty.
Has nothing to do with Sauerbraten, just in case you are worried about that ;)

Why would you get kicked/banned for no reason? As far as I can tell I did nothing wrong on 194.153.87.204, can anyone enlighten me?

If the server was registered (as your previous postings imply) they should see it ... but there ARE issues with very long lists of servers that sometimes result in servers not being queried as quick as others.
Either
a) wait longer in the serverbrowser
b.1) delete servers.cfg and do a fresh "update from masterserver"
b.2) manually edit the servers.cfg to just contain a couple of "good" IPs
c) type in "/connect my-host.domain.tld" or "/connect 123.123.123.123" into the console directly

some players are _very_ quick in deciding someone else is cheating - sometimes just because a high ping makes them think they've hit somebody and they didn't die like they wanted them to ... :-/
others are just griefers.
a ban only lasts until the server goes empty again - so don't worry too much about this ;-)

#7367: OBJ export failed |
by Nico
on 01/11/2007 15:27

Hi,
I loaded the shindou map and tried to write it to an OBJ file using /writeobj . Unfortunately, the exported data is not a valid model. Here's a screenshot of the model: http://picasaweb.google.com/ngaloppo/Screenshots/photo#5018778960570026834
It turns out that I am getting negative face indices in the obj. Is this a signed/unsigned int problem?
Any cube2 code hackers out there that may point me to the problem? I can change the code, just don't know where to look ...
