#5786: 0 FPS?

Ok I got this SERIOUS problem that doesn\'t let me play Sauerbraten. I got a new graphics card (ATI Radeon PowerColor 9250) and when I put the game it\'s just VERY VERY VERY SLOW!!! I don\'t understand why! At least with my old graphics card (GeForce 2 MMX) the game worked just fine!
I appreciate is someone helps!

ATI bug.
read the output the game gives,
search the forum.
IIRC : "-f" commandline option and "oqmm" option for autoexec.
But I ain't got no ATI so. Don't quote me on this.

I guess a FAQ would really stop all these posts coming in every two days, eh?

Search the forum. It's been answered like 30 times already.

Also, the Radeon 9250 is _not_ new. In fact I would stick with the GeForce 2 MX card. Nvidia cards are always better.

Just that you know I have the latest drivers. A bug in Sauerbraten? I didn't know that! Thanks for telling :)
I know Nvidia cards are a lot better, so I should by a new graphics card (Let's see if I can get a GeForce FX 5200 again :)).

I can move and strafe at a completely reasonable speed, but when I change direction with the mouse, it gets horribly skippy.

I\'ve read that ATI video cards have a problem on Cube, so is there any way to fix this?

I\'ve searched and searched, but I haven\'t found any answers.

No don't get a 5200... god thats old.

At minimum get a GeForce 6600 AGP. Or try for a 6600GT AGP ;-)

DT, just thought id let you know, that ati_texgen_bug 0 in the console will fix that problem with the 9250 card. I just had to do it on the pc im using, which also has a 9250. Works like a charm :)

Ok everybody who dont believe cheating is possible. IT IS! Its as easy like buying a cake in a store. I hope the admins will secure the game better so no evil hacker come in and ruin everything. I did godmode yesterday and i had unlimited bullets. I HAD THAT DONE IN LIKE 2 MINUTES :S. I dont do it on this game anymore i just tested it. Like i do on every game.

Noone does not believe cheating is possible. We all know how easy it is.

The choice to have no real cheat protection at all was a concious one.

That´s what mastermode is for.

Have you read the docs?
Did start "./sauebraten_unix" from your installation directory?
Do you get any error messages?
Have you installed all required libraries?

Passa that's a nasty solution!!! I'll tell you why. It activates the bug! For example if you made a big pyramid you'll see that with the bug the pyramid is messed up!
Anyway I got the GeForce FX 5200 again, so i'm going to continue working on my new level, LT's Desert. It's very big and it's 50% complete already! :)

Well:
1. A 9250 card overall is faster than a GeForce 5200. So if you only play Sauerbraten then I guess you will be ok.

2. You bought a GeForce 5200?? Just for Sauerbraten? Geez you could have at least tried for a 6200... at least then you could have played Sauerbraten with shaders.. no offense but buying a GeForce 5200 is an absoloute waste, that card was obsolete when it was released!
