they don't get played (and haven't been played since the server mods of hide and seek) and even if they were, there is more flow on those than there is on venice.

You seriously think venice is worse than wdcd or infamy? At least it looks nice and has a good layout for assassin (yeah, I know...) or capture. Plus it\'s nice jumping on the roofs. If someone only would fix the terrible, terrible, TERRIBLE flow and would remove that vaQ-venice-server from the masterserver... :D

Alright, now that you could call me a retard, at least answer this: Why exactly is wdcd better than venice? Ah sure, because if you take venice, remove all water and remove all buildings, you get wdcd.
Btw, concerning your answer in the "newcomer gameplay" thread: You forgot the most important thing. Get rid of all the places that are too narrow to jump.

Venice actually was a capture map, as far as I remember.
And when played capture on venice, it's not that bad, since people won't die instantly and spawn-camping happens a lot less than on insta team.

This brings me to something I can't say often enough: Some maps do not work in all modes. Insta/ffa/effic is senseless on venice, so it should be removed from the menu. Same e.g. for tejen, playing regen/classic capture there makes no sense. One can find many mode/map combinations which just don't work well, but still are available easily through the menu. Most problems people have with maps in particular and some problems of the game as a whole originate from the fact that the maps are not played in the mode they're made for.

To me it seems as when there are simply ALL available maps listed for insta/ffa/effic.

#14172: Problem with saving map |

I'm trying to learn Sauerbraten mapping but when saving map I receive error "Could not writen map to packages/base/<mapname>.ogz" where map name is you know what and doesn't matter - made sure to not have spaces or other funny characters in it, but it fails even with asdfghqwerty.
I am running Linux and I am 100% sure not only packages/base is writable but also all other sauerbraten directories as I running out of space on / and had to download tarball of sb and unpack it under /home/myusername/too_big_apps/sauerbraten. Path to sauerbraten also doesn't have spaces or other funny characters.
Please help me as I have plenty ideas for maps and want to contribute some maps to sb.

#14173: Login and mouse pointer probs |

1)
I am still unable to see anything that relates to a login page and am still having to use the recover account button via an email address. I need to change the email address I am registered with.
2)
When I open sauerbraten the mouse pointer gets trapped withon the sauerbraten window and I am unable to run anything else on my second screen, is there a way I can ammend it so that I can still run other profs alongside Saurbraten ?

tried every combination of alt/shift/command/tab, but nothing seems to work...looks more like sauerbraten is holding the pointer in the screen.

there is no login page... welcome to the forum.
always "recover account" and that is your login.
alt + tab should work unless you or someone removed the hotkey...
and i think i know what your problem is... you are using a mac.

As far as I can tell, you cannot use the mouse in any other program except for sauer when it is running. I think it is just the mac port itself, rather than the OS.
If the reason why you are trying to switch programs is because you are trying to capture screenshots, just type /screenshot in sauer.
if you cannot exit the program, you can hit Command-option-escape to force quit sauer.
Hope this helps!
PS. enjoy your viruses, Sub-Zero.

Does Sauer have any command to get the hash value of a string?

What kind of hash do you mean? Some hashing algorithms are so simple you could probably write them in CubeScript. If you mean cryptographic hashing, then you'd likely have to modify the source code and add bindings to Cube 2's builtin Tiger hashing functions.
