#13810: rpg

by wolfric on 04/16/2011 22:34

Off a youtube video i found the rpg batch script in the dir. the only reference to rpg seems to be (http://sauerbraten.org/docs/rpg.html)
What gives? There's nothing even about the rpg.bat file.

What's the rpg mode all about? is it in beta/alpha? The map is massive but from what i can see there is only one quest, (2 npcs, few rats, bears, a dragon and a few items lying around).

Is this the same thing as eisenstern? Or is eisenstern a fork which continues development of it.

#13812: Camera height

by aiueo on 04/17/2011 22:01

I've found no commands to change firstperson camera's height.
Do I have to edit sources to change it?
If so, which files have to be modified?

#13814: Game making?

by Mechoulam on 04/18/2011 09:11

Hi, I'm new here and I don't know where can I ask this, so excuse me if this isn't the right place.

I want to know what program did you guys used to make those maps and characters and everything, because I want to make a game, and I saw some threads asking some things about how to make maps, and I was wondering if Cube 2 is for making your own map and game.

Thanks.

u can make maps for cube2 direct in cube2. but to make a "game" u have to know c++ and alter the code..

yes, that link you provided was about eisenstern. sadly, the eisenstern project was dropped a few years ago.

You can make a game from this program. However, only the code is free to use if you wish to make a stand-alone game. That means you have to make all the models, textures, maps, etc.

Therefore, it is probably best to start with a mod that can be used within 'Braten. Baby steps, baby steps.

The cool thing is, though, that all you need to make a game from the engine can be found (as in, no pirating needed) for free.

Have fun, and best of luck!

Looks like modifying his models are out of the question: I can't seem to find an md5 script anywhere for mac.

I can model my own pretty well, but I am going to run into trouble when i try to export. Does anyone know of where I could find a md5 Python script for Blender, or maybe a possible workaround (such as exporting as 3ds or something like that?)

Thanks in advance!

Where did you look?
http://www.google.com/search?q=blender+md5+export - that gives quite a few hits.
But how about:

Yes, I'm sure I've found nothing on that topic, which is camera HEIGHT, not DISTANCE.
`grep "camera" *` in src/engine/ directory didn't also help much.

there is no cubescripted command to define the camera height of thirdperson. you'd have to mess around the code to add that feature.

I tried googleing it, but I got nowhere. Then, after I wrote the post, I saw the link. My apologies for bothering the community with this.

I'm sure there has been another person who took action after asking the same question before.
I'm not sure where to find his "thirdperson" mod, but I think it was on 1 of the forumtopics on quadropolis.

Good luck!

There is a working md5 exporter for Blender 2.56 here:
http://www.katsbits.com/tools/

In the md5 exporter thread in the KatsBits forum I posted what seems to be a working edit of that script for Blender 2.57, although both versions need to be edited to include the "//meshes" lines that Sauerbraten needs.

There's also the IQM exporter for 2.49 and 2.56 here:
http://lee.fov120.com/iqm/
I don't have much experience with this one yet.
