There are platforms, though they only go in one direction until they bump into something. Dustructables = barrels. Constructables = doors?

What exactly are the plans, anyway? Are you combining the Cube 2 and ET code, or modding Cube 2 to act like ET?

I've installed Sauerbraten and i got both OpenGL and DirectX. But i don't know why, the games uses the software renderer, causing itself to be unplayable. How do i fix that ?

Hrm. The platform code might be copied and expanded for 'movers'.

As for the contructables, I would think those would simply be multi-part mapmodels. The first frame is the bre-built phase, the next frame is the 'building' phase, then the last would be the the fully built item.

The destructables (even the walls you can blow) would likely have to be mapmodels as well, which are kaboomed by the dyno and satchel script.

The thought was to make ourselves basically a ET 3.0, then go from there. No ET code could be used (legally), but that's not really relevant anyways to such a different engine.

Cube 2 is an engine, no? So just as Sauerbraten is made from Cube 2, perhaps a new ET as well, yes? Like in AssaultCube for the original Cube (my inspiration actually).

If you want to do this, start doing some of the work, come back here to the community with some concept stuff, then you might actually recruit some people.

Not to be negative, but this is a tired old story around here. Cube Engine 2 is great, and eihrul has made great strides with the renderer to bring it up to this level of quality, and I'm using it for our project to great effect. But realise all the success stories started out with more than just an idea presented to the community, there was tangible evidence it would be followed through.

Has anyone search the forums and counted the number of failed mod announcements? I'm kinda interested in what those statistics would be.

How about you go calm down, and come back with a better attitude? Then, you could probably provide some more information so that people can actually help you, instead of sitting there scratching their heads.

Everyone's computer is different, everyone's setup is different. We can't read your mind and tell what operating system/computer setup you are using, and instantly diagnose your problem.

Before you get upset even further, realise most people will just label you a troll because of the way you're talking and not respond at all.

#9959: Re: autoexec execution?

by MeatROme on 01/19/2008 17:04, refers to #9929

I'd not execute autoexec.cfg in your case!
You never know what the user might be doing in there ;-)
I'd try executing data/defaults.cfg and data/menus.cfg - for starters.

You might take a look at some of QCSP and definitely take a look "my first map (OGZ)" - that already has these GUI menu driven pop-ups you talked about.

1st-OGZ: http://www.quadropolis.us/node/882 - a map with Intro- & Walk-Thru- GUI - menus
QCSP: http://www.quadropolis.us/node/435
- a script pack, making multiple function-sets easily accesible via keys 1..9 and also using GUI-menus for comfort.

Sauerbraten has no software renderer. Get proper drivers from your graphics card's makers website and don't use the ones that come with windows.

#9962: New Version of Sauerbraten

by Titanic12ship on 01/19/2008 21:41

Is there something I can do to help create the new version of Sauerbraten, maybe start adding maps from a list to the menus, or coming up with ideas for new gamemodes and features? I am eager in helping in the development of this great game.

Okay, so I've got Assassin edition with the latest patch on my Ubuntu installation, and the new weapons are all messing up. They all flash different colors. Screenshots:

#9969: Crash on Startup

by pythonusr on 01/20/2008 15:10

Whenever I try to run Sauerbraten from the Applications/Games menu, it crashes after going to a black screen, back to the desktop.
And from a terminal, running \\\"sauerbraten\\\", it crashes from the same black screen, and sends me to a terminal that has a very messed up prompt.

Any ideas? 128MB graphics should suffice.

Here's one:

System name

Graphics card
Processor
Ram

#9972: Nvidia 7600 w/Twinview help

by Evil Wayz on 01/20/2008 18:28

I have dual monitors set up in an extended desktop. Now, when fire up Sauerbraten, It appears on my primary monitor, but cut in half, the left half specifically. At this point my mouse actions are limited, and i have to do a fair amount of maneuvering to exit. I can't access ANYTHING past the middle of any menu. Once I close the game I get my mouse control back and my desktop is normal. Anyone have any idea why the computer thinks my primary monitor is bigger than it is?

It used to work, and my secondary screen would power off until I exted the game.

I really enjhoyed playing my FPS games but now none of them work, and since the Ubuntu Forums are hit and miss as to helpfullness I thought I'd try here.

My email is evilevilwayz@aol.com if you want to contact me directly.
