#12714: Sauerbraten Texture Problem |
by Critine Steam
on 11/17/2009 17:31
|
|
Any map that I load there is always at least 1 bit where the textures are broken.
I have an ATI Radeon X1250 Graphics card. I have some screenshots of the problem at http://picasaweb.google.com/daniel.tyrrell282/Cube2SauerbratenTextureProblem#
If anyone has a solution then reply to this message.

#12717: Ogro lore / storyline? |
by Rog

This may seem a silly question, but I'm curious. I've searched around but didn't find anything, so I'll just ask:
Is there a backstory or lore for the Ogro? Or are they just generally amusing orc-like baddies?

There's an "Ogro.txt" in the original Cube (1) game - which IIRC is the original file that came with the model when it was made for Quake ][
Here, I found it and put it on a pastebin:

There was a thread a while ago attempting to give our new player models some backstory too - just use search!

Simply mark some space and enter "water" into your console - means: press "T" and then input "/water" .. or lava or whatever.

oh, fire is a particle - they're a bit more difficult to handle but explained in the docs too. also there are a couple of scripting helpers available on http://www.quadropolis.us/ to avoid having to remember all the details of the attributes.

Change the game or running speed so it is more realistic and keep the gravity at a realistic level also when I am playing by myself or running a server?

Hey, I have found a temporary cure to that problem, cause I have it too, but if you press the power button and push the down arrow key until cancel is highlighted and press enter, it refreshes the game and goes on without problem...until it happens again. I think it has to do with the screen saver or the power savings (If you are running Ubuntu from a laptop.)

Yes, most Ubuntu fullscreen applications will lock up if a screensaver starts in the background, more common among games that use SDL, like Eduke32, Sauerbraten etc. Lousy keyboard and mouse activity check :p

#12727: Sauer Server on ARM |
by JoR
on 11/25/2009 15:00

Hi.
I want to run the Sauerbraten Server on my ARM server. It has very low hardware so it can\'t run the client on it. I compiled it multiple times (Using Make target server; From the source in the trooper release, from SVN, with ENet package directly from the ENet Website and I also tried frogmod) But any time I try to connect I get the \"illegal network message (type)\" message.
It reponds to the master Servers pings (I\'m in the List)
The connection always fails the same way: http://nopaste.info/1e0502899d.html
The Ports are forwarded (UDP 28785-28786, Port 28785 is in Configuration) and it\'s the same if I connect throught the local network.
The Server runs Debian 4, little endian.
While The Server\'s online (Will be everytime when I got it working) you can reach it on jor.homelinux.net (/connect jor.homelinux.net)
Can anyone help me to get it running?
JoR

In IRC, eihrul sent me this Link which shows what might be the reason for the "illegal network message". I'll do some more research on it and take a deeper look into the source and if I get it working, I'll let you know.

I assume you're referring to the gamedata folder hidden within the application bundle?
Check/change the permissions on the folder (Finder, get info)

#12733: Server maintenance downtime |

Hi folks, the server on which the forum is hosted is going down for maintenance this weekend. This will hopefully only take a few hours, but you know how it is with these things. Stuff may go wrong and it may take longer than expected. No worries though, everything will be backed up off site for great justice!
For you guys this also means no master server, so you're getting an extra serving of sorry from me ;-).
