Join #sauerbraten on Quakenet and ask someone else to try and get on your server. Usually, you can't connect to your local machine by trying to connect to the WAN IP address (the IP address registered on the masterserver).

Some time back I was trying to get Sauerbraten to work on my computer (seemed to run slow, a driver
update helped) and another problem I had was that the monsters didn\'t show. Someone suggested
using /gpuskel0 in the console. My problem now is that it\'s been a while since I played and I can\'t figure out how to get the command to work. How do I get into the console and is the command i.e. /gpuskel0 supposed to be typed as written or just gpuskel0 or gpuskel_0 or some other variation.

Is there a listing of the Sauerbraten music file names anywhere? My directory has been mixed up and I can't locate many of the game files.

you can't access your own WAN-IP via the LAN .. at least not with 97.424% of consumer-class routers!
You need to do something like "/connect localhost" or "/connect 192.168.23.23" (assuming that the latter is the LAN-IP of the box running the server).

you wrote that already .. did you install the game as the same user that you are now running it as? It must be a permissions-issue .. what is the value of the "-q" parameter in your BAT .. if there is none - create yourself a personal "sauerbraten home" (maybe inside "My Documents" would be best?!?) .. then pass the full path to it with -q.
Simple example:
bin\sauerbraten.exe -q"C:/Documents and settings/MyUsernameHere/my_sauerbraten_home" -r %*

You can also put these arguments into a "Link-To"-file (.lnk) on your desktop, or edit the BAT with notepad or some other basic(!) text-editor - not something like MS-Word or OpenOffice .. or at least take care to save as plain-text!

Go to the Sauerbraten directory, go into packages/ and then put the file inside of the base/ directory.

As the topic name says i'm having problems getting the chainsaw sounds correct. i don't know why and when and how but they don't play right. neither the correct osunds. here is the link to my sound.cfg with the 2 lines of interest highlighted. please help me fix cause having a silent chainsaw drives me xrazy! i try to host a server, my ports in my base station are set, ports 28785 28786. i turn off my firewall and it say's master server registration failed: failed pinging server.

forget the question i know the problem, i got a base station -> linksys -> cable router. I got to unplug my pc from the base station and plug it into my linsys router. So I have to bypass my Base Station physically to run a server. All ports are forwarded so it works.

#12410: Moving lights?

Hey guys, I'm new to SB and I'm currently trying out some things to get a hold of it's limitations. I've modded with Unreal and Hammer, as well as CE2; hardcoding and general modding, so I know my way around.

Anyway, I am currently trying to find out if SB is capable of supporting moving, dynamic lights. I'm trying to add in a flashlight function that would essentially add a light to wherever the player is looking.

I've noticed you need to pre-render the lighting, with calclight 0, so I'm not holding my breathe, but I thought I would ask anyway!

I take it you've done one of 4 htings with weapons recently...

1. shoot the pistol near a surface that can be illuminated
2. fire the chaingun near a surface that can be illuminated
3. shoot a grenade, and have it roll along a surface that can be illuminated
4. shoot a rocket and have it travel enar a wall
5. both 3 and 4 result in a bigger spheres when they explode


so simply yes
by default the engine doesn't have the functions you desire to make a flashlight though. just these spherical lights, partly since the devs never had a need for it

Is it true that in a future release Eihrul is gonna remove SP out of SB?

Look I don't care if SP will stay the same but I don't consider it to be removed, I play SauerBraten SP from time to time and sometimes make some small maps of mine that may be crap but fun for a while, I still have the old version installed that has all the SP maps in it and the latest version for online gaming tough, So is this true that in some future release all the SP package/features will be removed and SB will be a multiplayer only FPS game like Nexuiz, Warsow and other mainstream free FPS's out there?
