#12031: Regen Capture Map Problems |
by scax
on 04/26/2009 00:02
|
|
I'm working on a map and to make it good for regen capture I've inserted these lines into my .cfg file:
alias base_1 "the Computer Room"
alias base_2 "the Underwater Support Core"
alias base_3 "the Equipment Room"
alias base_4 "the Riverside"
alias base_5 "the Rooftop"
alias base_6 "the Particle Accelerator"
base_1 [1]
base_2 [1]
base_3 [1]
base_4 [1]
base_5 [1]
base_6 [1]
When I went back into my map after putting these into the .cfg it said "unknown command: the". I look in other .cfgs of maps like Hallo and C-egypt where they renamed bases and alias base_# "name" is the format they used so I'm perplexed.
Also the bases aren't all shotguns so basically this game isn't accepting any of the commands I set.
Can anyone with some experience in this tell me what the problem is?

`base_1 [1]` tries to execute 'base_1', so it's like typing `/the Computer Room` -> you don't need those lines, only the alias definitions. The ammo used is determined by the entity attribute, not anything in the config.

#12033: .ogz converter? |

is there any way to convert a .ogz cube map file to a .mdl or some other file managable by blender or 3dGameStudio?
if not, you know Cube could be a pretty amazing level editor for making proffesional games. it would be epic.

cube2 can export its map as .obj(Maya) by:
1) start Sauer
2) /map somemap
3) /writeobj somemap
you'll see a shiny 'somemap.obj' in the sauerbraten top directory.

Seconded !
Can we have one with a limit to the damage, so that we can have areas which only injure the player ? (ideally the damage-so-far would be preserved across adjacent damage areas)

#12037: One of the scripts |

I tried to get a script off quadropolis (the my maps gui one) but when I tried to install it I couldn't find the things I had to install it to. for example you have to add something to autoexec.cfg file but I cant find it. I have looked in my sauerbraten system folders with no results. Could someone tell me what to do?
By the way I am using the most recent version of sauer.

said script would need the SVN version, or the next release as of this writing.
there is usually no autoexec.cfg in existence on a clean install, you have to make it, it's just a text file in the root of your sauerbraten directory

Me again. Sorry to be annoying but now the script just comes up with a menu with a sauer logo on it. If I click the logo it takes me to the main menu! :(

Hey.. I have played Sauerbraten for a week now. (yayz. :3) But yesterday, I hit some buttons ( I don't remember which) as an accident. Then my display (Ammo, health, armor etc.) disappeared.
Could anyone help me to get them back?
(Which keys to press)
Thanks!

#12046: new Map Thor2 and "greGor" texture set |
by cronos3k
on 05/02/2009 13:19

Hello All
After 2 years I finely found some time to do a new map for Sauerbraten. It is accompanied by a part of my new "greGor" texture set and some useful map models.
screenshots can be found under:
http://www.maxstudios.de/images/sb/
GK_MaxStudiosDE_MAP_Thor2_SC001.jpg
to
GK_MaxStudiosDE_MAP_Thor2_SC024.jpg
All textures are high resolution 1024x12024 and 2048x2048 and they are saved as lossless PNG files for a maximum art quality. They are used in game with a 0.25 and 0.5 scale to get a higher Texel density for bigger screen resolutions. The style of the Thor2 map is an SF / industrial look unlike the Thor map that as been in a somewhat fantasy / medieval setting.
I am posting a download link as soon as the upload is finished.
Greetings
Gregor H. Max Koch "cronos"

#12049: Limbo Balance |

Teams often become unbalanced, leading to unfairness and much whining, so how about making it so that the same number of players are _alive_ on each team at any given time ? When a player died, on a team that had an excess, he would effectively become a spectator until someone else on his team died (which is not very long, given Sauer's fatality rate), then the usual countdown would begin.

It'd be too hard for players to keep track of which team they're on, and therefor who to shoot at. It would also completely undermine the competitive drive to do better for your team.
