I thought that Cube 2 and Sauerbraten were synonymous.

They should be, but sometimes people get mixed up about the word "Sauerbraten", which is why there has been a re-emphasis of "Cube 2" in recent months.

#11989: Loading new textures... |
by Matuka9011

Hey guys, I just added some custom textures (Their in Jpeg's), and I start a new map when I load up cube and press F2 and I can't find them...
I also then found a WIKI on new textures, but it doesnt help...
Right now I've typed "texturereset" into the console, but what do I have to do after that?
Also the folder(Located in Saurbraten/Packages) just has the Jpegs in...
Thanks in advance!
(By the way, the textures I downloaded and installed to packages were the "Trak5" ones from Quad, don't worry, I downloaded the updated version which has Jpegs[Thanks to Xsaii!])

Nevermind the post above mine, I figured it out, I have to list every single texture individually...
But my question now is...
Is there any way to list all that are found in packages?
:)

Is it just me, or does the lady in Blindabuser's announcer pack talk WAY too fast?
Seriously, first time I heard it, I heard "hell goose in ten seconds".

#11992: Texture problem |
by Sjonnie

I discovered Cube 2 yesterday and think it's awsomly fun ;) And as a creative gamer as I am i started making a map ofcourse with my own textures.
But I got a problem with the textures, I created a wooden floor with normal and parallax map, wich are working perfectly but I got problems with the walls. They show in black and grey even tough the texture .jpg isn't. I tried several things but all failed. And I think i did just the same thing with the floors, or am I just missing something?
So, anybody knows how to resolve this problem?

Still haven't got any further, any random googled Mr T seems to show in color and with normal and depth mapping.(Only the texture show in an angle of 45 degrees). Only the texture i created in photoshop still shows in black and grey. Also there are a lot of red/blue/green horizontal lines overlaying my own texture.
I think I should stop fixing it myself now, it only gets me into more trouble :p (And the first wood texture inc. normal and depth was so easy >.<)

the reason for the weird display is obviously you using a weird reslution, try making the sides (w and h) a power of two, ie, 64x32, 64^2, 128^2, etc
no resolutions like 120x120, 723x1022 etc

#11998: Sauerbraten couldn't load my models! |
by PainRU$

Hello! I am a newbie about creating maps for the Sauerbraten.
The problem is next - I made models and putted it in $SAUERDIR/packages/models/trtd. I made a new map, saved it, and made config file with same name as the map and wrote in that next :
"mapmodelreset // start counting from 0 again
mapmodel 0 0 0 "trtd/Bigtree" // 0
mapmodel 4 36 0 "trtd/Stalagmite" // 1
mapmodel 4 16 0 "trtd/Stub" // 2
mapmodel 4 8 0 "trtd/Tree" // 3"
So, then i am load the map, sauer console writes that couldn't load the model. What did i do wrong?
Thanks. PainRU$

Try this in your .cfg file:
mapmodelreset
mmodel "trtd/Bigtree"
mmodel "trtd/Stalagmite"
mmodel "trtd/Stub"
mmodel "trtd/Tree"
then ingame, you have the mapmodel slots 0-3 for your loaded mapmodels ;)

No, console gives that message again :(
Maybe i made something wrong than placing models in directory?
Here is the model directory screen :

First off: what is your model type? The files have their filetype hidden (highly recommend you set them to visible), so we don't know if you're using md2, md3, md5, or what.
Second, good practice is to name them tris.md3 and skin.jpg. You can use unusual names, but you have to have a config file for that, if I remember correctly.
Third, you have the first letter capitalized. Have them be all lowercase to prevent headaches with unix.
Hope that helps.

Correct; You need a md[235].cfg to use non-standard names.
