I agree with c0rdawg; google is how I'm learning. The included iphone documentation is helpful, too.

#11720: Obj Map Model |

If I have a OBJ map model, do I need to write a configuration file before I can load it to CUBE? Is there anything else? The wiki was confusing so that's what I am asking...

#11721: What happened to skycastle? |

Well, I'm a regular on the svn checkout.
And I thought playing skycastle was a good idea.
But apperantly its been removed.
Why? And when?
Since it was a really good map but a bit laggy.
I know some people had problems with it,
But god, I loved it.
So is it removed because of the problems it gave?

It was an unfinished SP never really released by the author. So if the author wants to finish it and turn it into a polished MP map, it could be considered for reinclusion.

#11729: Questions and comments. |

Ok, hey. Sorry for interrupting your forum posts, but I have a few matters to discuss.
Firstly, I just want to say that Cube2 is awesome, and it works fine on my (Crappy!) computer. The 3d menu is especially impressive.
Secondly, when I go to multiplayer, there's one server up there (With nobody in it) and the rest of the things on the list are just IP addresses with 'Newer protocol' next to them. I downloaded Sauerbraten from the Ubuntu package manager so... I don't know. Is it an old version?
Thirdly, I'm really looking forward to your RPG... dammit, I forgot what it's called =(. The maps remind me a lot of Legend of Zelda: OoT in places (Wide open fields between towns, narrow passages between map loadings, a burned out village with a windmill, etc) Will it be an online game, or just an old school RPG?
And... can anyone show me a tutorial for editing? I really don't get a lot of it....
Thanks!
SuperGeek

Don't use the sauerbraten from the repositories, as you've seen its out of date (and is usually packaged incorrectly) Download sauerbraten from http://www.cubeengine.com/files.php4
it's not hard to install.
As for the RPG... I don't really think there's any work being done on it.
See http://sourceforge.net/projects/eisenstern/

Yes. The repos usually have less-than-current versions of software.
You'd actually be best off checking out from SVN and compiling, if you're comfortable with that. (It's actually not that hard.) See http://sourceforge.net/svn/?group_id=102911 for a little info on that. (Google can probably help you for the rest.)
As for editing, there were some tutorial videos made... links here: http://cube.wikispaces.com/Videos .

Oh poop. Is the file really corrupted? It came up with this error while reading the file in the archive manager:
An error occurred while loading the archive.
bzip2: Data integrity error when decompressing.
Input file = (stdin), output file = (stdout)
It is possible that the compressed file(s) have become corrupted.
You can use the -tvv option to test integrity of such files.
You can use the `bzip2recover' program to attempt to recover
data from undamaged sections of corrupted files.
tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now
Do you think I should try using the recovery, or just download it again?
