#11533: Re: Sauer Slow

We need more data in order to help you. Look at other posts that have gotten specific responses and try to emulate them.

(Vista's not helping, which everyone knows, so let's please not start a flame war about it).

#11534: Will my Laptop SupportCube 2?

by EpicFishFingers on 12/28/2008 22:00, refers to #11514

Title says it all. My laptop is the newest Dell Inspiron with a 2ghz Intel core 2 duo processor, 3GB ram and plenty of hard drive space. However, I've had problems running games on it before: The Sims 2 won't run on it because the graphics card is inferior. Will this work on it?

Also, why does the webpage ask me to answer 3 x 9?

What *is* your graphics card?

And it asks you simple math problems to make sure you're not a bot.

No idea. How do I find out? Actually, tell me tomorrow, I'm going to bed now.

Have a nice nap :-)
Open the start menu, right click on My Computer, click Manage, go to Device Manager, and expand Display Adapters.

Probably an Intel GMA 950 like most laptops. You can run Cube 2, but you need to turn down some things.

First, add the command line "-f0" to your sauerbraten.bat. If you still have some trouble. then put this in your autoexec.cfg

waterrefract 0
waterreflect 0
waterfallenv 0

All of that stuff is unnecessary, Quin. It is disabled by default on Intel chipsets.

So, does that mean Sauerbraten will run on my new Mac Mini (the 2.0GHz c2d model)? I know they have GMA 950's too.

Yeah, should do. Won't be too fancy running it in fixed function, but it gets the job done so long as you don't have a CPU/GPU that overheats (and auto slows down) when it gets used alot - my laptop suffered from that.

If anything, the Mac drivers for the Intel 950 are far better than the drivers on Windows. I can verify that it is quite playable. The Windows drivers, however, much harder to say as Intel seems not so good with writing their own. :)

When I read "it gets the job done" I had no idea that it would run metl4 ~45 fps at a resolution of 1680x1050! Sure, it doesn't look half as good without shaders, but I can deal with that.
I frankly expected it to play around 20 fps; maybe the mini's graphics aren't as underpowered as I thought they'd be.

Now, if only it would quit giving me crap about my network, I'd be happy.

#11547: My maps.

by Websblob on 12/31/2008 13:38

My game was messed up for like 1 month till I figured out how to fix it. Sadly I have forgotten the name of this awesome map I was working on.

How do I see the names of my Maps that I have made. I tried Program Files - Sauerbraten - Packages - Base.
But they werent in there.

type /map and press TAB (repeatedly) to cycle through the completes (in this case, the map names), till you come to a name that sounds vaguely or somewhat familiar, which you might later identify as your map

#11549: Complile Errors

by Zaphod on 12/31/2008 17:25

Can anyone help me troubleshoot these errors? They just started this morning. It seems like my mouse response is not like it was yesterday.

I'm running on WinXP, SP3. Intel Cure2Duo 2.53GHz. 3.36GBRam.

Game has run great until thesse errors showed up this morning.

Rendering using the OpenGL 1.5 assembly shader path.

The errors there are not related to the mouse issue at all, but likely due to SP3. There is some problem with mouse polling that SP3 introduced.

Or rather, I mean the mouse issue is likely due to SP3. The shader errors are nothing to worry about.
