Hey guys,
Im sure this is covered somehow in the docs, but i cant find it. Could somebody please explain to me how to do the various maps on textures (like those nice ones on the caves in metl4, for example)

The best way to learn how textures work is to just look at a .cfg file.
Here are the areas of the docs you should look at:
http://sauerbraten.org/docs/editref.html#texturereset
http://sauerbraten.org/docs/editref.html#shader

We need more data in order to help you. Look at other posts that have gotten specific responses and try to emulate them.
(Vista's not helping, which everyone knows, so let's please not start a flame war about it).

#11534: Will my Laptop SupportCube 2? |

Title says it all. My laptop is the newest Dell Inspiron with a 2ghz Intel core 2 duo processor, 3GB ram and plenty of hard drive space. However, I've had problems running games on it before: The Sims 2 won't run on it because the graphics card is inferior. Will this work on it?
Also, why does the webpage ask me to answer 3 x 9?

What *is* your graphics card?
And it asks you simple math problems to make sure you're not a bot.

Probably an Intel GMA 950 like most laptops. You can run Cube 2, but you need to turn down some things.
First, add the command line "-f0" to your sauerbraten.bat. If you still have some trouble. then put this in your autoexec.cfg
waterrefract 0
waterreflect 0
waterfallenv 0

All of that stuff is unnecessary, Quin. It is disabled by default on Intel chipsets.

So, does that mean Sauerbraten will run on my new Mac Mini (the 2.0GHz c2d model)? I know they have GMA 950's too.

Yeah, should do. Won't be too fancy running it in fixed function, but it gets the job done so long as you don't have a CPU/GPU that overheats (and auto slows down) when it gets used alot - my laptop suffered from that.

If anything, the Mac drivers for the Intel 950 are far better than the drivers on Windows. I can verify that it is quite playable. The Windows drivers, however, much harder to say as Intel seems not so good with writing their own. :)

When I read "it gets the job done" I had no idea that it would run metl4 ~45 fps at a resolution of 1680x1050! Sure, it doesn't look half as good without shaders, but I can deal with that.
I frankly expected it to play around 20 fps; maybe the mini's graphics aren't as underpowered as I thought they'd be.
Now, if only it would quit giving me crap about my network, I'd be happy.
