Hi!
In latest releases of Sauerbraten someone fixed that you can make light out of sky box. Now it don't works. When i do it and do calclight it don't see that light entity that is ouf of skybox. Please make it supported because its very useful.

Who me? I only ban people if they're wrecking maps or spamming servers.

Yes, but it is of no consequence. Further bickering will only result in further silencing, so let's drop this topic of banning, shall we?

#10778: install 64bit sauer ctf |
by zopiac

im running 64bit ubuntu, and am not sure how to install it, esp. over the previous version. i installed it last via the synaptics, but doing that again would mean it would have to be up to date in synaptics, and i would have to uninstall THEN installl ctf version, most likely erasing things such as binds, etc.

That's an issue for your software vendor, try nudging the package maintainer to submit an update to CTF edition. You might also want to check the Ubuntu docs to see how to change from the stable branch to the testing/unstable branch of your packages, where CTF edition may currently be for you.

The version in the repos (Hardy, at least) is still Assassin.
The script provided in the package sets -q"$HOME/.sauerbraten", so you should be able to upgrade and not lose anything. (I would recommend removing ~/.sauerbraten/config.cfg after moving any necessary customizations to ~/.sauerbraten/autoexec.cfg.)
I stopped using the version from the repos a long time ago. It just got too weird.
I mentioned a while back about maintaning debs for easy, stable update... Should I assume there is interest in this?

I've tried nudging the Ubuntu package maintainer to keep Sauer current, and even volunteered to take over or help, but I never got a reply. Best bet on Ubuntu is to get used to downloading from Sourceforge.

You installed Sauerbraten somewhere requiring root permissions to write to. Most likely you've used a deb of some sort. You'll either have to run Sauerbraten with sudo every time or install to somewhere with the proper permissions (home folder).

Another alternative is to pass the -q (home folder) option as an argument on the command line, so that you don't have to mess around with the permissions of the original game data. Something like -q"/home/smitty_rox/path/to/home/sauer/dir" (assuming you're using linux)

So you'll have to compile it yourself.
Get 'build-essential' and anything to do with SDL (sdl-mixer and sdl-image at least) and opengl (make sure to get the xxxx-dev versions) and then open a terminal, go to /your/sauerbraten/directory/src and type 'sudo make install'
And wait for a bit.
