Except for the death material, all you just need to enter the name. So, to get water, just type
/water
To get the death material, type
/editmat death

Possible keys can be found in data/keymap.cfg.
You could also put this command (less the leading slash) in your autoexec.cfg (create it if it doesn't exist).
Though personally, I don't like the builtin zoom... I set up my own (which I think I stole from someone). Here's mine:
bind "MOUSE2" zooma
"zooma" = [ fov 30; sensitivity 3; onrelease [fov 100; sensitivity 7] ]
Instant zoom, plus it returns to normal when you let go. Perfect sniping.

What image types does the engine support, I was reading that it only supports jpeg ? Is this true or does it support other formats, I'm curious moreso for creating character models, I don't want my textures being jpeg compressed ?

Sauerbraten and Cube's players used to be pretty friendly ingame. I wanted a quick game of CTF before I went to bed so I went to The Conquerors server and as soon as I joined I'm shooting an enemy and get killed from behind. I didn't say anything about it and the player went off on me calling me a noob and saying something like he "should have expected to not be able to play on a public server without noobs." I tell him it wasn't my fault and I couldn't see he was behind me but he still insists I'm basically an idiot.
Since I was really too tired to play I decided that would be a good time to leave, so I killed the guy, acted like it was all his fault (Sound familiar?), and he threatened to ban me ("One more time and I'll ban you"), which made me laugh. After a few back-and-forth lines between us, I decided he wasn't going to ban me like I had desperately hoped for, and I left disappointed. He wasn't the master, by the way. He would have needed one vote since it's the TC server but I don't doubt there would have been another person dumb enough to vote for him.
What happened to Sauerbraten's well-mannered community? I played on the day of release and people were arguing then, too.
QuadAddict, if you're reading this, go play private matches if you can't stand anyone making mistakes or playing for fun. I seriously hope you're not at all related to TC clan because you don't represent them well.
Anyone else, sorry for the bitching. The player was just really rude and I'm not always in the mood to deal with that very politely.

IIRC is supports all formats supported by sdl_image, so BMP, GIF, JPEG, LBM, PCX, PNG, PNM, TGA, TIFF, XCF, XPM and XV should all work in theory. PNG definitely works, though, so just use that.

No, if I had done it to someone who hadn't done it to me, it would have been as bad. It was simply "a taste of his own medicine" in this case. I knew someone would bring that up but it's a completely invalid point. It's like saying defending yourself in a fight is just as bad as starting the fight (known as the "Zero Tolerance" policy in American schools).

Hey all!
I was wondering if anyone could shine a light on how to use the new texture commands to rotate and scale a texture slot. Do I understand it correctly that I can now use the same texture slot to skin 2 sides of a cube with differently scaled and rotated texture?
I have been reading through the manuals and all I have found was just the comments in the editing reference. It would be much apreciated if anyone could tell me how to use those commands, and if you tell me to RTFM then could you point me to where i can find it :)

Is it a dumb idea to plan out a map's design using very small cubes to make a scale model in-game? This is just a random thought I came up with while playing with the editor and failing to make anything useful.
