sloooow cube on p3

I have a pentium 3 750 MHZ computer with 256 MB of ram and an nvidia geforce 2 (64 MB) and cube runs VERY slowly, it used to run on this machine fairly nicely, but now itr SUCKS (lol) i tryed changine the res to 640X480 still no cigar.


the text says 30 Fps, but the screen lies >_>

Sauer will never run on that but Cube should squeak by. The only advice for you is make sure you're running the latest drivers and are free of malware.

i just installed the newest drivers for it, and i just installed windows, and cube is the first thing i downloaded, so i dont think it is malware or drivers.


but cube runs on Pocket Pc's, but not on my p3? wtc?



if i am using pc100 mixed with pc133 (i may be) memory could that pose as a problem?

Most probably drivers. Revert to some older I´d say. Newest drivers for such an old card is usually unneccesairy. Use some 7.1 or even 4.x (inbetween they can cause problems with cube). I used to run it on a gf2 too..

everytime i install the drivers, i start getting bsod\\\'s, and other problems, that has been the reason i have reinstalled windows 5 times.

i installed older drivers and it worked! i am getting average 100 fps (wtf awesome!) and it runs very smoothly (a little to smoothly lol)

aww, I just dug this pc out again, i have the same drivers, but cube does the same thing now (it isn\'t just slow anymore, it just locks, but the music keeps playing)


ALSO: I would be using an ATI rage 128 pro Pci, but windows just says \"The device cannot start\"


also again: i have ALOT of video cards here is all of them:


1.ati pci mach64 gt
2. ati pci mach 64 (no gt) i have 3 of these
3.at 3d rage pro (with an extra 4mb installed)
4.an ati rage 128 pro (can\'t start)


i also have 2 agp cards, but i dont have agp in this computer.

Conor, probably a driver issue. Try to revert back to older drivers (you won´t need the latest for that card anyways).
With gf2 I had similar problems, with every driver from 40.23 to 71.xx.
I used the 40.23 for a long time.

Guess you should use the newest of your cards..

I have a Pentium III 800 with GeForce FX 5500.

Cube plays very well (except for some very large maps, with very high wqd count).

Sauer also plays very well, once you disable those special effects. (well, I've not tried the water-edition yet)

None of them will work for Cube/Sauerbraten/ur hax so just use another PC..

You do mean these cards right?
