Reflections and item shading?

In the new Sauerbraten screenshots I noticed reflections on weapons and players, as well as shading of health pickups, ammo-boxes, etc. ...
But when I start the new Sauerbraten, I don\'t see anything of that. Does anyone happen to know why that is?

Probably your card doesn´t support shaders and sauer turns them off automatically
